Circles and Circles 2 (Part one of… some) – (Chapter: Sickness and light.)
“Uh huh” said Ashley, completely unconvinced. “I’ll give Tim a call, and you’re going back to sleep.”
“Don’t leave me” Spencer mumbled, hating being sick and sounding pathetic. She felt Ashley lean over and kiss her forehead, smoothing out the frowning wrinkles and brushing damp tendrils off her face.
“I’ll be right back ok” Ashley said softly, brushing her hand down the blonde’s flushed cheek. “I promise.”
Ashley dashed off down the stairs, and Spencer rolled over into a ball, feeling distinctly sorry for herself. Her head was spinning angrily and her body was rebelling against her senses, waves of hot and cold warring. Her skin hurt. She hated being sick. Closing her eyes for a moment, she waited for Ashley to return, and drifted into deep sleep almost immediately.
When she next woke up, she was curled up on her side, and she could feel a hand warm on her back. It was gently stroking the hair at the nape of her neck. Looking up, she found Ashley, pen in her mouth and reading glasses cute on her nose, reading some file and absentmindedly touching her. Spencer snaked out one hand and slid it along Ashley’s abdomen, pulling her closer. She was greeted with a soft smile,
“Hey” the brunette said, eyes gentle and warm. Spencer lost herself in their deep chocolate goodness for awhile. “Are you ok?” Ashley looked concerned.
“Mmm” Spencer mumbled, her thinking not very clear. She felt awful. She lay on her side, bright feverish eyes gazing into the distance as Ashley leant down, laying the back of her hand on Spencer’s cheek.
“Baby, you’re burning up” she sounded worried. “What’s wrong?” maybe even frantic.
“My stomach hurts” Spencer admitted. Closing her eyes, she waited while the pain in her abdomen throbbed and made her feel nauseous. The bed next to her creaked as Ashley’s weight moved off it, but Spencer didn’t open her eyes. Sleep was what she craved, but the pain was preventative. Moments later she felt the coolness of a wet face washer on her forehead, and could distantly hear Ashley murmuring on a phone. She could hear muttered comments and worried words but they were muffled, like she was hearing them through water. The only thing that wasn’t blurred or hazy at the moment was the insistent stabbing pain in her guts that was making her eyes water.

Wow, what an awesome unexpected surprise!! I love that you keep coming back to Circles. Probably ’cause we’re all begging and pleading and whining for you to….but if it’s working, hey, keep on rolling!! And the lovey-dovey Spashley? So great!!!! I look forward to your writing all the time, and thanks a billion for Circles and more Circles and hopefully even more Circles….=D
Oh dear. My appendix burst while I was in the hospital waiting room back in 1997. Worst pain EVER. I think i threw up all over the nurses desk. Anyways…your fic made me want to give Spencer a hug. :)
awesome to see you’ve written more of this! I like their chemistry – nice to have drama surrounding them rather than coming between them. I hope you post more soon. And congrats on surviving your ludicrously long shift :-)

Silly Duffer! Man, I haven’t heard that in so so SO long. It’s something I heard a lot when I was little. Love this story you cool cat. I’m Australian too, where in particular are you currently “living it up”?Ps I’ve always thought of Silly Duffer as an Australian thing. Do other people use it?

Silly duffer?! I’ve NEVER heard that before. Definitely an Australian thing. :) And might I add YAAAY! to your continuing this story – even for just a three part! Yours and bannerman’s stories are getting so numerous I can barely keep track! At least I know there’ll always be SOMETHING good happening. Sorry, no cheeky comments today. It’s Friday, I’m exhausted and thoroughly looking forward to hitting up the local dive bar in a few hours. ::sigh:: Oh and I was walking to work this morning and a cyclist passed me and dinged their bell and it made me think of you. And Jesus. Isn’t that strange? I will now forever associate the sound of bike bells with an Australian I’ve never met and the son of God. :)
