“Ashley?” I heard Spencer calling from the living room.
“Spence?” I called back walking towards her. “You weren’t supposed to be home for another forty minutes.” I explained my shock.
“Yeah, they let me go early.” She said. She seemed a bit off now. I wondered why. Maybe it was being called into work unexpected throwing her off. “Where’s Kyla?”
“She shouldn’t be here for another half hour.” I said as my eyes followed her to the couch. I walked over to her. “But I was thinking.”
“What about my dear?” She said still acting somewhat nervous.
I climbed on the couch next to her and placed a hand on her cheek. “This,” Was my only reply as I slipped in and kissed her as soft as possible. It was a short kiss but one I was thankful for. Her lips were soft like clouds and pink like…I don’t know something really pink. She smiled at me with her blue eyes sparkling wide. “Sorry, I have wanted to do that for a while” I said blushing.
“It’s okay.” She said blushing as well. Wow she was cute. “I have too” She admitted shyly.
Just as I went in to kiss her again, she pushed herself back into the cushions and away from my lips. I looked at her with furrowed eyebrows. I was definitely confused. She stood up and looked at me with sad eyes. “Sorry, but I should take a shower” She stumbled through her sentence.
She walked away with her head down and a heavy sigh coming from her mouth. What was wrong with her? The rest of the day was spent between me and Kyla and Spencer and Kyla. There was hardly any communication between Spencer and I. The entire time we were out she would hardly look at me. And when she did look at me, it was for a long time when she thought I didn’t notice. It was a sympathetic type of look. As if she had a choice of something that was going to hurt me. I didn’t know how to handle it except the only way I knew how.
I had to beat her to it.
