Books and Letters – (Chapter: The List)
When I finally made it home, there was no such luck of seeing Ashley. I guess she had more work to do at the precinct than I imagined. I dropped my briefcase and purse on the dining room table and hung my keys on the key rack. I then proceeded upstairs to change out of my work clothes and into something more comfortable. I threw on some boxers and a black beater and then threw myself on my bed. I was more than exhausted but still feeling super accomplished after winning my case. It had taken us four months and many trials to finally get that bastard sent away and I loved ever second that had proceeded in the court room. I grabbed the house phone and decided to ring Ashley and tell her about it. I sat up in the bed and dialed her number. After three rings she answered.
Ashley: Hello?
I smiled at the sound of her voice. I loved hearing it every second of every day.
Spencer: Hey baby, guess what?!? I won my case!!
I said excited because I honestly was.
Ashley: Baby?!? That’s great. Congratulations honey!
She said, just as enthused as me.
Spencer: Thank you. Boy I was so glad when it was over. Although after the case I did have a weird encounter at the bar.
I said informing her of the creepy guy that frequented the bar.
Ashley: What do you mean weird encounter?
She asked her voice thick with concern and worry.
Spencer: Well after the case and after Rigby told me to stay low for a while, which I might add was being way too paranoid; I went to have a sort of victory drink…
She cut me off.
Ashley: Baby you were drinking and driving?!
She asked appalled. I laughed and her outrage.
Spencer: No…not really, the beer was so watered down my nana couldn’t get drunk from it.
I said laughing and so did she.
Spencer: So yea I went for a victory drink, involving watered down beer, and this guy kept watching me. Like, I don’t know, it was weird but what caught my attention was the fact that he was wearing a gray suit and he looked really spiffed up. I don’t know, maybe I’m the one being paranoid but it creeped me out and I thought Id tell you baby.
