Another kind of Notebook – (Chapter: The Beginning)
"You’re a block away from the house." Ashley says confused.
"I am?"
"Yeah."
Over the next few days Spencer seems to be forgetting more and more. But its just little things, like where she put the car keys, or where her make up was. But she forgot Ashley’s name once and Ashley knew it was time to take her to the doctor.
"Mrs. Davies, we don’t know how to tell you this but your wife is in the beginning stages of Alzheimers. And is only going to get worse." The doctor said to Ashley.
"Is there any way to cure her?"
"I’m sorry but no there isn’t, we’re working on one but it will take awhile to complete."
Ashley nods her head. "Can I take her home now?"
"Yes but when she gets worse we will need to keep her under surveillance. So we will need to put her in a home."
"Ok."
-Present day-
Ashley’s POV
That how it all began a little over 3 years ago. Spencer kept getting worse and worse And now she doesn’t remember me or the kids all she really remembers is her name. And there are days when she doesn’t even remember that.
The doctors tell me every day that it’s useless, that she’ll never remember me. But every day I read the same story she wrote. The story of our love. I remember the day she gave it to me she said and I quote "This notebook is about us, how we met. How we got together, how we loved each other. You read this to me and I promise, if it is humanly possible, I’ll come back to you. And we’ll be together again." And for a few months after I started reading it to her almost every time I read it she would remember me then it was down to it was every other day then every other week then every other month then once every few months and now it hasn’t happened in almost a year. But I have a good feeling today is the day she will remember. She has to for me, and I know that sounds really selfish but I miss everything we used to do together. I mostly miss holding her at night while she slept, and kissing her, and just loving her. So call me selfish if you want but I need her and I can’t live without her.
As I walk into her room I see my beautiful baby girl and her nurse.
"It’s not a good day" The nurse says to me.
"Who are you?" Spencer asks.
"This is Alex. And she’s come to read to you." The nurse replies. And if your wondering no my names not Alex, it’s Ashley, we just had to change it so we wouldn’t freak Spencer out. She can’t find out to soon who I am or she will have a panic attack and possibly die.
"I- I’m not in the mood." Spencer says as she turns around.
"Aww, come on, please?" I plead with the infamous Davies pout.
"Ok." Spencer says. Memory or not she never could deny me anything. Well except when we first met.
"Shall we?" I say motioning to the chairs.
"Ok." Spencer replies.
"So where’d we leave off? Oh yeah Ashley and Spencer met at the carnival." I say as I begin to open the book.
