A Typical Teenage Mind – (Chapter: Two)
I like it at the club. Gray. It’s chilled out, great atmosphere and just a generally nice place to be at. The bartender, Kat, is more of a mother to me than my own. She listens to all of my problems, all of my fears and my problems, fears and lusts of her.
Kat knows I like her, the first day I saw her at school, it was a Wednesday, I phoned Kat up, talking about this amazing new girl. She was so happy for me.
She isn’t anymore. It took four months for her to even look at me. It’s taken more than four months for her to speak to me. Kat isn’t impressed. She says that I should’ve gone to her first, spoke to her first. Well I didn’t do that, but I definitely looked at her first. I know what’s going on inside her head more than anybody else. More than him.
We have another routine. A club routine. This one has been happening for about a month. We will both dance with people, if I am dancing and she isn’t her eyes are locked onto mine, if she is dancing and I’m not, my eyes are locked onto her, wishing it was me with her. If we are both dancing, we make sure we are facing each other. It’s the closest we get. Just two bodies separating us, looking over our dancing partners shoulder to each other.
She hasn’t turned up yet. I’m say here with my JD and coke, waiting for her. She has never come up to the bar, Aiden does for her. He will say a ‘hi’ once and again with a small smile, but nothing more. He orders a beer and a Southern Comfort with lemonade.
SC and lemonade. The girl has some class.
They’re here. They have just walked through the door.
She looks as beautiful as usual. Tight blue jeans, spaghetti strap black top. Black? She never wears black. What is up with her just lately? Her sweet and innocent look is flying out the window. She changing.
She’s becoming herself. I can’t help the smile that crosses my lips. She is finally finding herself.
