    28 Days – (Chapter: Don’t underestimate the blonde (chap4))

Dumping herself cross legged on the ground in front of them, she picked at a blade of grass and watched them both.

“How was the shower”, Spencer asked, voice soft and spine tingling.

“Not too bad actually” smiled Ashley. “Hot water and everything.”

    “Good news.”

“So I hope they feed us soon” said Aiden, manly interest in his stomach. Both girls laughed.

So they managed to pass the easy last hours of day together. Ashley relaxed, despite the almost continuous flirting flowing from her best friends mouth to Spencer. At one point she kicked him discreetly in the ankle, but he just grinned at her and kept going. Spencer didn’t seem to mind, although Ashley was buoyed by the fact that although she didn’t object, she also didn’t really respond in kind.

‘That doesn’t mean shit Ashley’ her brain pointed out most unhelpfully. ‘Besides, you’ve known this girl a day. So has Aiden. Lets just cool it for the moment’ Quickest damn crush in history.

With some determination, Ashley made it through the rest of the evening. She even had fun. Spencer was fun to be with, and Aiden and Pete joined them, making it surprisingly MORE enjoyable. She could probably handle four weeks of this. Madison stayed on the other side of the room, and her avoidance of them couldn’t have made Ashley happier. The cheerleader was a little more subdued with her boyfriend back at home. Dinner was passably edible, and with quantities enough for Aiden to be happy. They were fed in the large log building, which turned out to be half dining room, and half open hall. After dinner, Aiden produced a pack of cards and despite his and Pete’s pleas for a game of strip poker, the girls held out, and they played something else.

It was heading towards ten when Spencer said she was going to bed. Ashley’s well held calm wavered, wondering if she should follow. She let the blonde wander off to get ready, and sat, staring up at the starlit sky. She heard Aiden shuffle over beside her. It was now just the two of them, lights twinkling in the distance.

“So, nice new friend huh” Aiden began.
