    28 Days – (Chapter: Don’t underestimate the blonde (chap4))

“Walk. We have to walk?” Ashley sounded horrified. “For five days!” she fell back on the grass. “I’m gonna die.”

“You won’t” said Spencer, making a face. “You’re really fit, you can tell” she blushed slightly, turning her face away, but Ashley caught it just before she did.

‘She checked you out Davies. Nice’

“So…”Spencer continued, playing with the edge of her sneaker. “Wanna be my tent buddy” she made it sound girl scout cheerful.

“Sure” said Ashley, hoping she didn’t sound too eager. “You don’t wanna share with Madison.”

‘For fuck sake Davies the girl just offered to spend five nights in a tent with you. Shut the hell up you idiot’

“Yeah, I’m sure” replied Spencer, firmly. “Madison is high maintenance at the best of times. I don’t think I could hack five days in a tent with her.” They got up to head over to the pile that was being doled out to teenagers in pairs. Aiden caught up with them, his buddy Pete following behind.

“I hear we’re at camp sites pretty much every night” he informed them. “So hot showers all around”

Ashley breathed an audible sigh of relief.

They found a neat corner of the field on the designated “girls” side, and opened out the canvas bag. Ashley stared at it, the alien field of green with strange bendy poles and weird pegs. It was completely foreign to her. She heard Spencer giggle.

“It’s ok” she reassured the brunette, who was looking like a lost lamb. “I can put up a tent, you just have to help.”

Ashley shrugged, knowing full well she was going to be a hindrance rather than a help. For the third time that day, the ocean liner that was Madison loomed up on the horizon and blocked the sunlight. She stood between the girls, her body language clearly excluding Ashley, who made a face at her back.

“Spencer, I don’t think you understand” she began.

“Madison” Spencer interrupted, but the fake tanned brunette continued.

“Sharing a tent with this… lesbian, well, that’s gonna give you a reputation you know”.

“Thanks for the tip Madison” Spencer continued to put various pieces of the tent together. After a few moments it became clear that this was all that was to be forthcoming. Madison made a snorting noise and walked off. Ashley stared at Spencer, heart beating faster.
