Chapter 14

Alice had so many thoughts running through her head, she thought she might struggle to get to sleep, but as it turned out it was the exact opposite.  It had been a long and eventful day so she was very tired and that mixed with alcohol and the emotions of the day Alice slipped off to sleep quite peacefully.

Dana on the other hand was a completely different story.  She lay awake for hours reliving the evenings events, “ I shouldn’t have said anything” running through her head, but she was secretly glad of her confession to Alice, and also sad because she didn’t get the reaction she was hoping for.  She wanted Alice to come running into her arms and say the words that she had been longing to hear. “god im so stupid” She knew the chances of that happening were slim but still none the less she did hold a glimmer of hope that it might have happened.  Dana was still awake at 4.30am so decided to go for a run, it was the only way for some reason that Dana knew how to deal with things, somehow thinking and running always helped.

Alice woke late feeling totally refreshed, she wandered around the house looking for a sign that a drunken Lucy might have come home, but all was quiet and there was no sign of her anywhere.  Alice checked on Lucy’s room but there was still no sign of her “someone got lucky me thinks” she laughed to herself.  Alice couldn’t actually remember the last time she got lucky, it wasn’t something that she really worried about anymore and for Alice that was unusual she had always been a very sexual person, but for some reason after all that life had thrown at her it really didn’t seem that important anymore..  Alice made some coffee and started to clear up from the previous nights events, she knew that Will and Jake were coming home today and she was really looking forward to seeing them both. She missed Jake so much.

Dana was pacing around her apartment, contemplating calling Alice, bur also not wanting to call too early and looking too keen. Dana didn’t want to push Alice away, she must have picked her phone up a dozen times by now but chickened out at the last minute.  Dana decided to head to the planet for some lunch in the hope that Shane or one of the others was there to talk to.  Dana scanned the coffee shop as she entered but to no avail, she grabbed a coffee and salad and sat quietly in the corner reading the daily newspaper.
