The Reluctant (Chapter 11)
Chapter 11
Knock knock. Knock knock knock. Knock knock. BAM!
“Holy shit, what is that?” I asked, looking over at Dana. She was still asleep, so apparently the incessant and rather annoying murdering of my door had only woken me up. Fabulous. Lightening cracked in the dark night sky, followed shortly by the deep rumble of thunder. I drowsily got up from my bed and looked out through the peephole in the door. “What the fuck do you want?” I asked Tonya grumpily.
“Where’s Dana?” She snapped. “Let me talk to her, I know she’s in there.” Oh yay, now I got to deal with crazy psycho ex-girlfriends at…1:15 in the morning. The boat lurched with a heavy groan and I was flung forward head-first into the door. “Ouch…”
“Al? What’s going on?” Dana sat up in Shane’s bed, rubbing the sleep from her eyes.
“Nothing, don’t worry about it.”
“There!” Shouted Tonya. “I heard her! I know she’s in there!”
“Fuck off, Tonya. You’re insane.” I called back, and sat back down on my bed. Now…where was that pillow? I laid down and closed my eyes, anxious to get back to my dancing banana dream. Don’t ask.
“Alice?” I opened my eyes and jerked back; Dana was crouched 5 inches from my face.
“Jesus fucking Christ!” I yelped, making her wince. “Sorry. What, do you want me to go beat Tonya up or something, ‘cause my coordination’s a little off at the moment. That tends to happen when I don’t get sleep.”
“It’s thunder storming outside.”
“Well thank you for that update, Dana. Now back to sports with Jen Carlille.”
“Shut up.” I grinned.
“What, are you afraid of thunder storms or something?” She just stared at me.
“Oh, you’re kidding me! I’ve know you for how long now and you’ve never mentioned this?” She looked like she might cry, so I sighed and waved to her. “Come here.” There was another loud bang on the door and Dana jumped onto the bed, hiding behind me. “Fuck, Tonya, give it up already!” I shouted at the door.
“How long do you think she’ll stay out there?” Dana asked, hugging a pillow to her chest.

Okay, we got our Danish ending, but how serious was Dana about meeting up with Lara in a few days? Is she with Alice because she wants to be or because she was afraid of hurting Alice or completely losing her friendship? Will there be a sequel with Alice dealing with Dana and Lara…
