    Tina got back to her apartment around 10 pm.  Her phone was ringing as she put her key in the door.   She was still on Cloud Nine from her weekend with Bette and just picked up the phone without thinking to look at the caller id.

     

    “Hello.”  Tina said slightly out of breath.

     

    “Well, hello, Tina,” a deep masculine voice replied.

     

    Fuck Tina mouthed.

     

    “What do you want, John?  I know the only reason you have this number is because my mother had a lapse in better judgment.”

     

    “Oh, Tina, you’re so cynical of me yet.  Can’t we let bygones be bygones?  We were in love once.   Don’t you remember, honey?”

     

    “Look, John, you can sweet talk my mother, but the crap that falls from your lips stopped meaning anything to me long, long ago.  Yes, I thought I was in love with you.  Let me see….oh, yes, I remember when I realized that was a mistake…when I came home to find you fucking someone in our bed.  And if that wasn’t bad enough, it had been going on during the whole time we were together.  Don’t you remember, honey?”

     

    There was no mistaking the venom dripping from Tina’s words.  If John did not pick it up, he really was a stupid man; no matter how many degrees he had hanging on the wall.

     

    “I’m weak, Tina.  It’s a pitfall of my gender.  What can I say?”

     

    “Nothing, John, absafuckinglutely nothing.  I need to go now.”

     

    “Tina, I just want to say I’m sorry for…”

     

    Tina didn’t let another syllable materialize.  She hung up the phone and walked to her bedroom.

     

    “Like I really give a flying fuck what that man has to say.” 

     

    Tina did not want John’s voice to be the last she heard before this weekend closed, so she dialed Bette.

     

    “Hey, is everything all right?  Not that I don’t love hearing from you, Baby.”

    13. I can’t remember if it was last night or this morning when I wondered when you’d have time to post a new chapter. I finally managed to finish up on your first story after reading it off and on for several months (I’m a slow reader…shush =p) and absolutely loved it. Normally I’d think, “Lawyers, courts…zzzzzzzz…BOOOOOOOOOOOOORING!” But having B&T involved makes it very interesting. It’s like you snuck in law lessons without me even knowing.
