The Canvas of Our Life…Ch15 REVISED

    Previously..

Tina turned and looked into Bette’s beautiful brown eyes. She had never let go of her hand, but was now caressing it lovingly.

    “Betteyou called me baby.”

“Ohuh sorry Tina. I didn’t mean to be forward. I just”

“Shhh” Tina said placing a finger to Bette’s lips.

“You can call me baby anytime you want. But only if you mean it.”

    “I mean it T. I don’t know what’s happening here. I feel so many things. Tina I think I”

Again the officer interrupted her. “Ms. Kennardyour turn.”

    ________________________________________________________________________________________________

Tina sat paralyzed when the officer spoke. She was suddenly stricken with fear at the thought of what the news may be from the hospital.

    “Ms. Kennard.are you ready?”

    “Huh? Ohuh yes. I’m sorry.”

Bette squeezed Tina’s hand to reassure her that she would be there.

“Good luck T. It’s going to be alright.”

Tina only responded with an uneasy smile as she left the room. Bette laced her fingers together nervous for Tina and the outcome of the phone call. As she began to plan her phone call to her lawyer her thought was interrupted by Eric who had still not taken his eyes off of her.

“What is your intention with Tina?”

“I really don’t think that’s any of your concern.” She said flatly

“Look BetteI’ve known Tina for a long time. She and I have been through a lot together. I know her friends and her family well.  We come from the same background. This isn’t her, she isn’t herself right now.”

“Is that your most creative defense? You people never cease to amaze me. You live in denial and you create this problem that doesn’t exist. I’m wasting my breath on you saying this but I’m going to say it anyway. Tina is not the person you know because it was an act. She was trying to be someone she wasn’t to satisfy everyone but herself. What you don’t realize is that Tina is more herself right now that she has ever been. She is finally free and she is growing with that freedom. I’m sorry that you have been hurt in the process, but Eric if you love her, let her go. You will only continue to hurt yourself and her if you don’t. I’ve seen this many times and it can get uglyif you let it.”
