Hold a Place for Me

Chapter 1

Season 1, Final Episode, “Fight Scene”……………………….

Tina is exshausted. She lays spent across Bette’s warm body as Bette tenderly caresses her hair; quieting her painful sobs. Tina continues to lay there, fighting an internal battle between mind, heart, and body. Her mind and heart, both, demanding to be heard, but her body responding to neither. She listens to Bette’s steady heartbeat pound against her ear and wonders if a place inside there still remains for her. She is sickened by the alternative. Feelings of betrayal and disgust wash over her like a tidal wave. The dark fingers of deceit wrap around her chest, forcing the air from her lungs, suffocating her of all the happiness left inside. Bette gently kisses her forehead. The feel of those soft lips against her skin only intensifies the nausea. The lips are tainted. She can feel the dirtyness, the disease start from the origin of the kiss and spread across her body like locusts devouring a field.

The color drains from her face as the bile lifts in her throat. She lifts her head, willing herself to move, but barely able to speak, “I need to leave.” Bette jumps up begging her, “No, please, Tina, you don’t have to go, please…..”

The anger wells inside Tina. She can hear the ringing in her ears as she tears off her ripped dress, replacing it with a pair of jeans and shirt.

Bette: “Tina, we can work this out.”

Tina turns, screaming, “Work it OUT?! What Bette? Work what out? YOU have ***** destroyed everything we had….there’s nothing left!”

Bette is crying hard, “Please, I’m begging you. Please stay, at least talk to me. My intentions were never to hurt you.”

Tina (sarcastically): “Oh yeah, I’m sure you had the most honorable intentions in ***** the carpenter.”

Bette cries out, “Stop it! I can’t stand to hear you say things like that.”

Tina: “Truth hurts, Bette, right?”

Bette: “Tina, listen to me. We can fix this….you have to believe me. I never wanted this….I never wanted her.”

Tina: “Believe you? You have done nothing, but lie to me for god knows how long.” She gestures the space between her and Bette, “this is a lie. We are a ***** LIE!! My leaving or staying doesn’t change anything . You did this to us….to me. YOU did it!” She pokes her finger hard into Bette’s chest.
