To Spashley With Love – (Chapter: Chapter Forty-Seven)

Ashley put the money that Kyla gave her in her wallet. A waiter came to our table to take our order. “Is there anything you would like to drink?” the waiter asked.

    “Uh water,” I answered.

    “A coke,” stated Ashley.

“Coming right up,” the waiter said and walked away. I noticed the waiter looked at our table and made a phone call. Did he recognize me through my disguise? Was I just being paranoid?

I saw the 12 o’clock news. “In breaking news, the amber alert for sixteen year old Spencer Carlin…

“Uh oh,” I said in a whisper. We’re in trouble, Ash. Ashley looked at the TV to see what my anxiety was all about.

“Well, this morning there was a girl who came here who looked a lot like the blonde you’re looking for,” explained the cashier. She purchased a newspaper and some junk food. She did seem pretty suspicious to me.

“Oh boy,” Ashley sighed. You’re right.

“Except the girl had brown hair and was wearing shades so I couldn’t tell what her eye color was,” continued the cashier. I never forget a face.

“Baby, we need to go and fast before we get busted,” Ashley whispered.

“I second that,” I agreed. She took me by the hand and we snuck out of the restaurant. Kyla was standing by Ashley’s Porsche talking to some cops. Just when I thought things were bad, they were about to take a turn for the worst.

“Where is your license and registration, miss?” questioned the officer. More importantly, where is the girl?

We were so busted. Ashley and I were about to walk away when another officer saw us and ruined it. “There she is!” another police officer said. The officer went towards us. You have run away from the law for long enough. Now you’ll have to come with me downtown.

“For what?” I asked on the verge of tears. We d-didn’t do anything wrong. Ashley hugged me.

“Nice try, girlie, but the water works won’t work for me,” answered the officer. I have a teenage daughter so I know how that works.

“Could you give us a second?” Ashley questioned annoyed. Ashley and I took a walk. She took my hand in her own.
