You Told Me You Love Me Part 9

    “Fine.”

“So are you ready for Missouri?”

    “Yeah.”

That was all Alice heard from her, nothing but short answer. It broke Alice’s heart instantly. Dana couldn’t even look at her in the eyes now. It was as if they were all strangers again. Alice felt cold, not her body but her heart and soul. She tried to fight back tears as much as she could. There was an awkward silence in the room. Alice could tell that Dana was nervous as she kept fidgeting her hands and shifted uncomfortably in her wheelchair. The brunette eyes were fixed to her lap. Alice sighed and reached to the back of her neck and took off her necklace.

“Dane?” Dana looked up and eyed the blonde warily.

“Here take this. You gave it to me while we were still dating. When…” Alice paused. She pursed her lips. “If you feel like missing me then just take a look at it.” Alice took Dana’s hand and put the necklace onto Dana’s palm and closed it. She was on the verge of tears having to say ‘if’ not ‘when’. And Dana’s face was nothing but expressionless. It really killed her.

“Can you give me a goodbye hug?” Alice asked.

Dana was surprised. After thinking for a moment she nodded her head. She immediately fell onto the blonde’s embrace. Alice tried very hard to suppress her tears. She hugged the brunette tightly as if it was the last time and memorized Dana’s body and scent. She whispered one last thing she needed the brunette to know.

“Come back to me. I will wait.” Was all Alice had to say to the love of her life. She was unsure whether the day would come but she was willing to wait. She would wait her entire life for Dana to come back into her arms again.

She kissed her cheek and pulled away from the hug to look at Dana intently. She couldn’t read the blue eyes. They were lost again. It broke Alice’s heart more.

“I guess I have to go now.” Alice took a last glance at Dana before she basically ran out from the room. She couldn’t say goodbye to Dana. This couldn’t be the last time she saw Dana. Dana loved her and would be back for her. She kept on walking through the corridor at a fast pace as tears rolling down her cheeks. There was no use to wipe them away. When she was outside of the building Lenore was there sitting on one of the benches in the garden. Upon seeing her mother Alice ran to her open arms and cried uncontrollably. Lenore’s heart broke instantly. She hugged Alice tightly and let her daughter cried her heart out. She knew this was what Alice needed now. "It’s ok to cry baby, I am here for you." She whispered.

After the blonde was out of sight, Dana put on the earphones and switched on the I-pod. She looked on to her palm. A single tear dropped onto the pendant. It had a carving stated DF Loves AP.

    This time, This place
    Misused, Mistakes
    Too long, Too late
Who was I to make you wait
    Just one chance
    Just one breath
Just in case there’s just one left
    ‘Cause you know
    You know, you know

    That I love you
I have loved you all along
    And I miss you
Been far away for far too long
I keep dreaming you’ll be with me
    and you’ll never go
    Stop breathing if
    I don’t see you anymore

    On my knees, I’ll ask
Last chance for one last dance
    ‘Cause with you, I’d withstand
All of hell to hold your hand
    I’d give it all
    I’d give for us
Give anything but I won’t give up
    ‘Cause you know
    You know, you know

    That I love you
I have loved you all along
    And I miss you
Been far away for far too long
I keep dreaming you’ll be with me
    and you’ll never go
    Stop breathing if
    I don’t see you anymore

    1. Wonderful update, uhhuh! Dana’s thoughts seem so realistic. Love that she feels that connection to Alice even with her memory gone. Poor Alice – this is so much harder on her. Hopefully the two of them will be able to find their way back together. Thanks so much!
