You told me you love me Part 5

After Alice helped Dana to clean up the doctor walked in.

“Dana? How are you feeling today?” Dana moved her head a bit to look at Dr Wilson. She gave him a weak smile and nodded.

“That’s great.” He smiled and looked at Dana’s record book.

“Everything looks fine.” He mumbled as he looked at the record and then looked up.

“I’m proud of you, you are doing pretty well.” He smiled again.

“If this continues you are able to do physiotherapy in a week time.” Dana’s and Alice’s eyes lit up at the doctor’s statement.

“Thanks.” Alice was so happy that she wanted to jump and hugged him tightly. But she managed not to make a scene there.

“Ok. I’ll have to go now call me if you have any questions.” With that the doctor walked out from the room leaving. Dana looked at Alice and was mesmerised. This was the first time in three weeks she saw Alice smiled that Alice’s smile again. Dana couldn’t imagine a happier moment in her life and managed to smile a bit as she was still weak.

“Did you hear that Dane?” Alice looked at her. Dana nodded and smiled.

“I think I should call the group and your parents.” Alice said and searched everywhere for her cell phone. She scrunched her nose and pushed her glasses up when she couldn’t find it. Dana chuckled looking at Alice’s demeanour. Alice heard it and looked at Dana.

    “What?” Alice said.

Dana just shrugged her shoulder to indicate nothing.

Alice smiled and crossed her arms.

“You know you like it so just stop complaining already.” Alice chuckled when she saw Dana rolled her eyes. She continued to hunt her cell phone down.

“Hah, there you are.” Alice grabbed the cell phone immediately from her handbag after roaming over Dana’s room. Dana rolled her eyes again thinking how forgetful Alice could be sometimes. But in her heart she was smiling as this was one of the things she loved about Alice.

Alice went out to make some calls to the group and when she came back to Dana’s room the nurse had brought in Dana’s breakfast and was checking at the vitals. Alice greeted the nurse happily and thanked her when she left. But her smiles faded as she looked at Dana’s direction. Dana was looking at the liquid food on the tray and her expression was unreadable. Alice knew what was coming and took a deep breath before she made her way to stand beside Dana’s bed.

    1. Aww poor Alice, I understand why Dana is being like that though, it must be really hard for her to come to terms with everything. Hopefully she’ll be able to communicate with Alice and explain a bit more about how she is feeling without biting Alice’s head off. Good post!

    2. What a great surprise to see an update to this story!! You are writing Dana’s struggle very well. And “yay” for the Alice smile coming back. And she is being incredibly strong for Dana here. Alice certainly threw out quite the carrot for Dana to work on her recovery. I’m not sure if Shane showed up at just the right time or just the wrong time. But it was good that she and Carmen were there. Thanks so much, uhhuh!! I look forward to more.

    3. it is worth the wait uhhuh..Alice and Dana are both struggling but I hope the effects of chemo will not torn them apart..I just wish ALice will not grew tired of Dana’s bluntness..Please post soon..

    4. Being a care giver is not easy, the one you love is in pain and all you can do is be there. You getthe blunt of all the trash talk.and you are there to see all that is going on. The patient trys to be nice and them you hurt the one you love.. thanks
