You Are The Light That Makes My Darkness Disappear – Epilogue

    Epilogue
    -10 years later-

Ashley && Spencer are now 26 and Bette && Tina are 60ish.

“I’ve never loved anyone as much as I love you. You are my life honey.”

    “Shut up please.”

“No, you are giving me the most amazing gift. I love you, I love you, I love you.”

“BABY SHUT UP! If you love me soo fucking much, then why would you let me endure this kind of fucking pain?”

She squeezed her lovers hand. Screams were being heard through the hospital room until the distinctive scream was heard. She felt warm liquids running down her face. A mixture of sweat and tears. 32 hours in labor, and finally she’d given birth to the most amazing, precious being ever. Suddenly beeps were going off, and the grip on her hand softened.

    “Baby?”

    Nothing.

    “Baby?!”

“Get the wife out of here. She’s losing blood pressure fast.”

“Heart rate is 34 beats a minute. We’re losing her.”

Those were the last words she heard. She was pushed out the door into the waiting room where her mother’s sat. She ran over to them crying.

    “Mom, she’s-”

    “Sssh baby. What’s going on?”

“Her heart beat is under 32 beats a minute. I can’t lose her. I just can’t.”

Bette got up and ran to the door. To hear anything. She needed to know that her daughter was okay. Suddenly the piercing beep was heard. The fatal blow. She was gone. Her daughter was gone. She fell to the ground and hugged her knees crying hysterically. Tina was on the other side of the room holding her daughter as she collapsed when she saw Bette fall. Bette felt like she was being kicked in the gut. That she’d lost all of herself, then all of sudden the beeps were heard again. She pulled herself up from the floor and looked in the tiny window to see anything. She saw her daughters gown ripped open and her chest rising and falling slightly. She said a prayer and looked back to her daughter and her lover. Tears fell hard. She wanted to bust through those doors, but was stopped when a small woman came out.

    “Mrs. Porter? Mrs. Carlin-Davies?”

    “Y-y-yes.”

She managed to studder out of her sobs. She felt Tina and Spencer at her side.
