    Chapter 20

Bette slid back into her self-wallowing grief. She finally pulled herself out of it and became cold as stone. She was sick of the one woman who could make her feel either on the cloud 999,999,999, make her feel like she could fly, and also could make her feel like shit within the matter of seconds walking out on her. Bette took the good with the bad with Tina it was all worth it. All worth the risk to hold her at night. To tell her she loved her. To kiss her. To be hers. To call Tina hers. She walked out to the kitchen and grabbed a beer.

    “Mom?”

Ashley asked, she didn’t see her mother drink much, but when she did it wasn’t good.

“Ashley, I don’t want to talk. I’m sorry baby, but right now isn’t a good time.”

“Oh fuck PORTER! Would you just stop. If you continue to be this melodramatic I can understand why Tina wouldn’t come back into this house. I couldn’t stand it either!”

“Alice, I can’t hear this right now. I just want to be alone.”

    “Porter! Stop! GO AFTER HER!”

“She’s made it clear. She wants to talk. Then walks out. That’s the last time Tina Kennard walks out on me. I’m done. I’ll be a single for the rest of my life. I don’t want anyone at all! Ever. I just need my daughter.”

She smiled to Ashley. Ashley tried to smile, but she heard a grim tone in her mother’s choice. All of a sudden the screeching of tires was heard. Bette dropped her beer and ran out the door. She looked down the road momentarily and saw Tina’s car in the middle of the intersection. She ran, ran as fast as she could leaving everyone behind. All she could thing about was Tina. Tina. Tina. Tina. The love of her life. The woman she’d just vouched to give up. Tears streamed down her cheeks. What the hell was she thinking?

    Chapter 21

Tina had her fists wrapped tightly around the steering wheel. White knuckled. She looked at Spencer who was in a set of panic.

    “Are you okay Spence?”

She asked shakily. The adrenaline was pumping through her veins. Before she knew it her car door was being opened.
