“What are you looking at?” screamed Henry, one of the meanest and ugliest soldier that worked at Jailhouse. He jabbed Bette with his gun.

Sinking to her knees the brunette held on to her side.

Tina saw this and gritted her teeth. What happen next made her want to rip that guy’s head right off his shoulders. Bette was still on her knees when he brought the butt of the gun crashing into her face, drawing blood. The brunette fell back onto the ground

In a flash she was at Bette’s side with the handkerchief that had her name. The blood made her stomach feel queasy but she didn’t let it stop her from helping Bette. On her knees next to the down woman she placed Bette’s head on her lap wiping the blood from her nose with her handkerchief. If Bette recognized it she didn’t say anything.

“What are you doing” asked the same soldier that hit Bette. Tina immediately recognized him as the same soldier that threw the water in the brunette’s face.

“Helping this woman” she said kindly looking into Bette’s eyes, realizing they were a pretty shade of brown. The pain was so visible in those brown eyes; it made her want to kill the fucking bastard.

Everything was surreal to Bette. Was Tina actually kneeling beside cradling her head and wiping her blood? She’d recognized the handkerchief Tina was using her father had given it to her and she’d lost it few weeks earlier. The blonde’s touch was warm and tender; it felt like a lover’s caress. Hazel orbs stared lovingly at her, no one had ever looked at her that way before but in an instant it was gone. The warmth beneath her head was replaced with the hard, sandy ground.

Henry had grabbed Tina yanking her up to her feet and away from Bette. The brunette felt cold and alone, she already missed Tina’s touch upon her skin.

“Come on, Miss. You don’t want to be doing that now.” Henry said giving her a condescending smile.

“Let go of me” Tina pulled away from him. She looked at him hard.

“Don’t be mad, Miss”

Tina wanted to shout fuck you. “She’s a woman, you fool. Is that how you treat a lady?”

If looks could kill. They stared at each other. The disgust she felt for this man was intense. She wanted to take his gun and shove it up his ass.

Henry was the first to look away, “Take her away” He commanded a soldier nearby.

Meanwhile, Bette had managed to get back to her feet despite still seeing stars from the blow to her face. The blood had somewhat stop but the pain was still excruciating. She watched as the blonde was led away.

Tina stared longingly at Bette over her shoulder as she was being led away by the soldier.

Henry was so pissed by the blonde’s interruption and disgusted at the way Bette was looking at Tina and Tina at Bette. He took his anger out on Bette, hitting her once again in the ribs and then the face. When she fell to the ground, he kicked her again and again.

Tina looked on helplessly as Bette was beaten, the soldier held her back.

Henry liked what he was seeing. Getting down on one knee beside Bette, he whispered into her ear, “you’ll never have her, but I will.”
