Work In Progress
A stunned Tina with her jaw dropped as looked at Bette who stood by watching the scene trying to hold Angie back. The toddler loved groups hugs and when ever she saw her momma’s wrapped in one her automatic response was to join in. This case was no different and despite not recognizing the visitor Angie wanted in. Tina stood back to look at Lydia and saw what she should have recognized from the beginning. It was the same thing Bette noticed when she first laid eyes on the tanned brunette. It was their eyes, Lydia, Tina and Angie had the same eyes. Now Bette understood which side of the family Tina got this beautiful trait from.
“Oh my god” Tina choked out.
“Perhaps you’d feel more comfortable if you came inside” Bette offered knowing that their picnic plans were put on hold due to the unexpected visit.
“Yes please come in” Tina stepped aside to let her sister in. Bette went to the kitchen to make coffee leaving Angie with Tina and Lydia.
“Wow” Lydia exclaimed unable to hide her happiness. “Who is this” she enquired looking at Angie.
“This is Angie” Tina held a shy Angie in her lap as Lydia reached over to shake her hand. “Say hi Angie.”
“Hi cutie” Lydia waved at the shy little girl. “You are so gorgeous.”
“Say thank you” Tina told a shy Angie who just hid her face in her momma’s bosom.
“I know this all seems sudden and believe me, for a week I’ve been trying to figure out a plan on how to approach you.” Lydia nervously looked at Tina. “I wasn’t sure how you’d receive me but I’m so happy I took the chance.”
“I had no idea” Tina looked in awe at the resemblance except for the skin and hair color which were traits from her Hispanic mother. Lydia’s mother was the woman her father had the affair with that consequently broke up her family. “If I had known about you this wouldn’t be our first meeting” she told her genuinely. “Don’t take this the wrong way, but how did you find me?”
“I’d totally be asking the same thing if a sister I didn’t know existed came knocking on my door” Lydia said making Tina laugh.
