Down in the café, Bette and Tina are sitting at one of the tables just chatting.

Tina: “So Bette what brings you to the academia world?”
Bette: “Um, well I was looking for something that would let me work in the art world yet not be to demanding out side of the day to day work.  I have, um…. other obligations that have to be tended to and so I needed that flexibility.”
Tina: (she could tell that there was something Bette was trying to avoid but didn’t want to push, being that they just met.) “Oh well I hope you can find that here, and I must say that I’m glad you are here, I have been dying with the over 40, married with children crowed, we have here.”
Bette: Laughing, “Yea I noticed that, are you the youngest one here?”
Tina: “Well that depends, how old are you?”
Bette: “28”
Tina: “Then no, you are! I just turned 29 two months ago.”
Bette: “Oh great!”
Tina: “haha, it will be fine, it’s our job to bring some new and fresh light into the department. We can work together! So when is your first class?”
Bette: “Tomorrow, I’m a little nervous.”
Tina: “Oh you’ll be fine, first day is easy, just syllabus and expectations and such. Just find a good balance between friend and professor and they will do what ever you say.”
Bette: smiling “Well thanks I’ll remember that.  I have to get going, but thanks for the company Tina. I’m sure we will be see more of each other.”
Tina: “I’m sure we will. Have a good first day tomorrow!”
Bette: “Thanks bye”

-The Next Day- 10:00am- Bette’s Office
Bette was getting ready for her first class, reading and rereading her notes trying to clam her nerves when there was a knock on the door.
Bette: “come in”
Tina: (popping her head in) “Hey I just wanted to wish you good luck!”
Bette: smiling “Oh hey, thanks, I’m a wreak.”
Tina: coming in to the office “you will be fine, I can already tell that you have a natural charm, I’m sure they will love you.”
Bette: blushing a bit “well thanks. I guess we will see, I have 20 minutes to chill out.”
Tina: “Well then I will leave you to prepare.”
Bette: “Ok thanks”
Tina turns and gets just around the door to the hallway and pops her head back around “hey Bette, would you like to have lunch with me after your class?”
Bette: “um yea that would be great.”
Tina: “Ok I’ll meet you down here, say 12:00”
Bette: “ok see you then”
Bette sat back in her chair with a smile on her face.  Thinking, ‘ok this is going to be fine, just use that natural charm that Tina said.  Tina, she is so sweet, and smart, and gorgeous…. no Bette don’t go there! Class class, you have to teach a class in…..oh shit 5 minutes ! Got to go.’
