When Hope is Lost
Previously…
When the sun came up the next morning, the household all slept in as the previous day had exhausted them with all the activity. Peggy and Marilyn got up first and organized the staff for breakfast. Soon a buffet was set forth, fit for queens and was sitting on a table close to the dining room table ready for the guests to awaken and find their way there.
Maxine, Allyn and Kit all arrived at the same time and first served themselves up some coffee to wake them selves up. Kit had checked on Ozzie before coming down the stairs and he was still sound asleep. After finishing two cups, they all served themselves up plates fill with a variety of breakfast dishes and then went outside to the patio to eat breakfast and chat.
After they all settled in to eat, Peggy began the conversation. “So, do you think our two daughters had a good night together?”
“Well, they looked quite happy when I left them after picking Ozzie up.” Kit replied.
“I’m just so happy that Bette agreed to come to witness the birth of the baby.” Maxine shared.
“To be honest, I think she was already convinced to do that. Tina had sent her many long emails and with each one Bette seem to relax with the thoughts that maybe their relationship could get back on track. I watched the both of them throughout the whole process of losing the first baby, the destruction of their marriage, Bette’s trying to get close to Tina again but she rejecting her, Bette’s mistake, Tina’s pushing her away, Bette’s leaving and Tina’s remorse in what she had created with her decisions.
They both weren’t sitting in healthy places in their relationship as their priorities had shifted away from each other and then focused on their jobs. For me, I think that everything happened for a reason for them to become better for themselves so that they could be better for each other… and Ozzie was supposed to be a part of things. I was impressed with Bette taking over for me and assisting Tina in the birthing of their baby.
