It was about 20 min later and everyone was still where they were 20 min earlier. All of a sudden they heard the voice of the person that they once loved.

Alice: Hey everyone.

Dana, Tina, and Bette looked at Alice like they were seeing an Angel. Dana got up and walked over to her. She put her hand up to put it on Alice’s cheek thinking that it would pass through but it didn’t. Dana hugged her as Tina and Bette made there way over.

Dana: You’re alive? How are you alive? The doctor told us that you were dead.

Alice pulled out of the embrace.

Alice: Dead? I was never dead. Maybe a little dehydrated. Here talk to my doctor she’ll prolly tell you what happend.

Jsut then a woman in her mid 30′s came walking out from a room and over to them.

Alice: This is Dr. Green.

Dr. Green: Hi, everyone. I understand that there was a bit of a mix up. The man that you were talking to earlier was actually one of our psych. ward patients. He likes to put on the white coat. He figured out why Alice was hear and decided to tell you some not so good news. Its okay though everything with him is being taken care of. But Alice even though we will be releasing her is very sick. As you know she has an eating disorder and we would like her to come back once every other day for therapy and then to be weighed. We will be keeping track of her progress. She and I discussed this and figured that it would be better to do an out patient treatment.

Dana gave Alice a big hug.

Dana: Alice I’m so sorry i should have made sure that you ate your food. I’m so glad that you’re going to be better though. You look beautiful now but you are going to look more so when you are healthy.

Alice: Thank you Dana.

Alice gave Tina and Bette a big hug as well. Tina took Alice off to the side leaving Bette and Dana alone.

Dana: Listen Bette I’m sorry about what I said I was just feeling so much at once and I needed some body to be blamed for it.

Bette: Dana it’s okay. Everything is okay now. Everyone is safe and sound…wait we have to find Shane.

Alice and Tina rejoined them.

Alice: What do you mean where is she?

Bette: When I found out that you were here I got really mad at her cause she didn’t do the right thing and actually made you worse. SHe couldn’t handle what I was saying to her so she took off.

Alice: Where would she go?

Bette: I don’t know but we have to go look for her. Since she took her truck we’ll go back to my house and you and Dana can take Tina’s car while we take mine.

They did what Bette had said and everyone was in there cars looking for Shane.

Bette was scanning the streets.

Bette: T, what if Shane does something drastic. I mean she thinks her best friend is dead. She thinks that she killed one of her best friends. If I thought that i had killed you I would…

Tina: Baby don’t think like that. She won’t do anything without thinking about it first.

Bette: Tina you don’t know her like I know her. She may never show her emotions but she definatly acts on them.

Tina reached over and stroked her back.

Tina: We’ll find her.


Dana: Where are we going? You need to tell me where to drive to.

Alice: Turn left. Then take a right after the next light.

Dana: Why do I feel like you know where you are going?

Alice: Because I do. One time when Shane was really bummed out she took off for a while but everyone just thought she was with one of her conquests. So one day my cell phone rang and it was this guy. (he got her nimber from Shane’s cell phone) He told me that Shane was with him and that she was pretty fucked up. He gave me directions. When I got there she was as high as a kite. And an inch from death. She had gone back to her old ways. She has been clean ever since. I just have a really strong feeling that she went back there. Turn left. Okay pull over.

It looked like a normal house on a normal lot of land. Dana and Alice made there way up to the front door where they found that the door was unlocked. The netered and found a lot of people insdie that were shall we say under the influence. The climbed the stairs. This guys was coming down them.

Alice: Where is Shane? And don’t tell me you don’t know who she is jsut tell me where she is.

Guy: She’s up stairs in the first bedroom. God don’t get so wiggy on me.

Alice climbed the stairs even faster. She came face to face with the door but turned around to tell Dana to wait in the car. Dana did as she was told and Alice entered the room Shane was in. Her back was to the door.

Shane heard the door open.

Shane: Get out this room is taken.

Alice: I’m not going to leave you.

Shane spun around and backed up all the wya to the wall thinking that she had seen a ghost.

Alice: Shane it’s me. I’m not dead.

Shane: Alice? Is it really you?

Shane got up and made her way to her friend. She put her hand out and Alice did the same. When the made contact Shane embraced her and dragged her down to the floor crying. Alice comforted her until she had calmed down a little. Alice looked around and noticed that there was a vial of something white where Shane was sitting. Alice broke the embrace and got up and grabbed the vial. She went back to Shane and looked her square in the eye.

Alice: Shane I thought you were done with this *****. Don’t you know how much you are hurting yourself.

Shane: Alice I didn’t do it. Ever since the last time you saw me here I have had the vial and I have kept it in my truck. When I thought that you were dead I came back here. I came to the place where you helped me the most. I took the vial with me and I came in here. I starred at it. But all I kept thinking was I can’t let her down. I promised her I would never do this again. She may be dead but a promise is still a promise.

Alice: Oh Shane. I’m glad that you did the right thing. Good girl. Lets get out of here though before something bad happens.

Alice was stroking Shane’s tear stained face as she nodded. They both got up and exited the house for what they both hopped would be the last time.
