Chapter 4 – Unwelcome surprises
Bette was happy to be home. She had decided that she was not needed in San Francisco any more that week and had instructed the editor of the SF Times that she would use the internet for any further information that she would need for the two pieces that he had wanted her to review.
She explained that as she had once had both pieces on display at the CAC she really didn’t need to physically view them more than once and so told him that she was heading home.
Bette had arrived mid morning on that Saturday and had hoped to surprise Tina and Angelica with an impromptu visit to the beach later that afternoon. Their conversation last night had left her fatigued. She felt at times that Tina treated her like a human punch bag, but for the moment she was willing to grin and bear it, for the moment. Bette felt that as long as she continued to reach out to Tina and Tina was able to keep talking to her, then there had to be some hope.
‘I have to keep hoping,’ Bette thought.
She had been surprised and a little disappointed to find that Tina was not home at eleven thirty that morning, but then quickly got over it as she figured that they might have just popped out to do some groceries or something and would be back shortly.
‘I’ll just have a quick nap, and unpack later’ she thought whilst she relished in the comfort of their bed. She must have fallen deeply asleep, because when she woke she found that it was after three in the afternoon.
Still with no sight or sound of Tina.
Bette sat herself up and contemplated calling her cell just as she heard a car pull up outside. She sat nervously waiting to surprise her beloved when she heard a male voice followed by Tina’s sultry laughter.
A tall dark haired man came slowly into view as Bette watched out of the bedroom window.
Bette could see by the way Tina and this man stood together that they were intimately comfortable with each other and Bette felt her heart leap at the realisation. She heard Tina speak again.

She’s the one who came up with this entire scenario for her relationship with Bette. So why is she acting guitly? Bette just needs to grab Tina and ***** her like she means it….but thats not going to happen. However I must say your tackling a very interesting concept for this couple that just cant seem to connect on any level about the way they really feel.

I just found this story and I really like it but what the ***** is Tina up to. I know Bette hurt her and all…but this is just crazy. Bette shouldn’t putt her feelings a side. Just tell her! Take action Bette. Nice story thanks for sharing.

I hate this…I hate the way that Bette’s heart must be breaking. It’s killing me too. How dare Tina bring Henry back to their home. Bette never did that with anyone. This sickens me.
I don’t like this Tina. She doesn’t have to be shady to find her individuality. At least Bette wasn’t being a player. She made a mistake. Tina is being a player and a shady one at that. not cool and not the Tina we love.

You know I have said to my friends over and over again. Tina is the only 1 dimensional character on the show. We know about everyone else’s past except Tina’s. We know everyone else’s family (or lack thereof in Shane’s case) but not a peep about T. We know her as far back as Eric and that is. I think they need to expound on T’s past or family. I think T could really be like this because we don’t really know except as Bette’s wife. I think the ave. you are taking with Tina is good. Keep going with this. I am waiting to see how this all plays out. Thanks for the great writing.
Bette should either dump tina, or tina should get shit together, this is too much playing with someone heart that you are suppose to love, Bette&Tina are good together, but if they can’t good for each they should move on!!!
You blushed? How cute is that. As hard as this is to read I think the idea of Tina going back to a man is realistic. She was with men for a larger part of her life and believed she was str8 longer than gay. Or maybe she always thought of herself as bi. We never really got to know that level of detail about her character from the show. Keep going, I’m hooked and will follow this story for as long as you write it.
Ouch! That is brutal!!! I’m so pissed about Tina doing this to Bette! And to bring the guy home in Bette’s (and T’s) own home is just wrong!!! I can’t believe that Tina really loves Bette at all if she’s capable of doing this! I hope that bette will be able to move on or make Tina pay the piper soon! (THe writing is awesome!!!!) Thanks.
Really well done, please keep it going, and I wouldn’t worry if it’s only from one point of view — that’s fine. This seems to really be Tina’s story, after all. Like alot of people, I’m baffled by the intention of Tina returning to men, but it isn’t entirely out of character (I have always believed Tina had a startling capacity for cruelty). I understand what LH said about being hurt and wanting to hurt the adulterer, but in a real adult relationship, one that’s worth salvaging, perhaps an eye for an eye isn’t such a great idea in practice, even if it seems good in theory. how long can you hurl shit at a relationship before you damage it beyond repair? If I’m Bette, at this point, I walk out of the bedroom and in my strongest voice, say politely “I am done with this.” No amount of pushing, prodding, pleading, from Bette will alter Tina’s thinking (will it?) This clearly seems to be an issue Tina has – whether it’s not forgiving or not being happy … or both. Being sorry and being expected to take something back are two completely different things … only children expect you can really “take it back.” Sorry, didn’t mean to be so long-winded. Clearly you’re onto something here, please keep going with it…your writing is great.
I like the new take on the two but I have troble peacturing Tina with a man and not Bette. I also can’t see Bette putting up with this, her ego wont alow it. All that said, I am realy enjoying your story and hope you don’t keep us waiting to long for the next chapter.
i really like ur story (only just discovered it). Like others, I have trouble picturing T with a man, but after reading your AN I can understand more how it may happen and am enjoying it being played out in a fic.
that Tina is mean and what she is doing to Bette is cruel..i think Bette saw the kiss and simulateed the sleep thing..that Bette deserve better but im still have faith on you cuz just like you say your a TiBette fan..ok cant wait for next chapter
That’s not good at all. Bette does not deserve that, Tina should know better. Taking Henry to a home Bette and her share is a slap in the face.
Bette has taken a beating since Candace. . Kick the dog evough and he will get tired of it and bite you. Bettes bags are still pack just pick them up and walk out the door. As I continue to read this, my mouth continues to hang open. We all understand that Tina was hurt, but this here goes beyond cruelty. One of the things that had always been paramount to Tina was “if” Bette had ever slept with Candace in “their” bed. As memory would have it, Bette has never bought Candace to their home, let alone their bed. What Tina just did is horrible on so many levels.
She is the one that always had the larger capacity to forgive; but from where this story is going, it seems that she can forgive the whole world, but not Bette who was supposed to be her world. If she is capable of doing this, then, IMHO, she never fully forgave.
I am also a devout TiBette fan, but I don’t think Bette’s pride nor heart has to take this from Tina. I hope Bette doesn’t continue to lay there and pretend to be sleep. Get the hell up and confront Tina!!

My main problem with the spoilers is that I like Tina, except when she was with Helena, so for her to break Bette (who I love much more) apart like this when Bette has suffered just shows that she’s acting selfish. She wants to have a home with Bette but go off with a man, while Bette only wants to be with her. I think I’ve just come to the point where I’m a man-hater so anything they do bothers me lol I really hope that Tina finds what she wants, and that what she wants is Bette, and only Bette… and hey if Bette decides two can play this game, can you write it in that she sleeps with me? haha jk Ok well time for bed and for my mind to drift into the dark place of how much money I’m going to spend on my medical bills because of the pain this show is going to cause me lol

Well if Tina doesn’t like that soft eager to please lovin she can send Bette my way….Damn she’s got the hottest woman in the universe quiting complaining….Anyway, it’s like a dagger to my hear to hear someone say bette should just find someone who appreciated her but perhaps it is true….their relationship has too much baggage and it’s dragging them down.
