Alice started talking as soon as they took their seats in the restaurant. They decided to meet somewhere other than the Planet because they actually wanted some privacy.
"It seems as though it’s been forever since we had an in-person conversation," Alice said. "You seem like you’re doing okay. What with spending time away from the house giving you ‘perspective’ so you said." She gave the word air-quotes as she rolled her eyes.
"We’ve been having problems for a long time," Bette said. "Long before Tina ever showed up on your doorstep Al. Not all is as it seems from the frame of reference of an outsider."
"Where the hell have you been staying anyway?" Alice quizzed Bette. "Tina came to stay with me after your dalliance with the carpenter, I thought you’d have your turn on my couch."
"A friend offered her spare room," Bette replied. "And that’s all you need to know Alice, so give it a rest."
It wasn’t a lie. Helena had offered Bette her spare room. She just hadn’t taken her up on the offer. The appeal of Helena’s own bed was much greater.
"You must be enjoying spending your free time with Angelica knowing you have a job to go to in two weeks," Alice said. "Not very many children get both parents at home with them at the same time."
"Honestly Alice," Bette began. "Being let out of my contract at the CAC was the best thing that could have happened to me. If I was still there, I wouldn’t have thought I did everything I could to patch things up between me and Tina. And I’ve been able to spend the last eight months being a mother to my child. I’m so thankful the adoption process is behind me."
"Oh, that actually reminds me," Alice said excitedly. "I meannot that you give a rat’s ass, but when I went to pick up Helena on Sunday for yoga, she had a woman with her."
Bette almost choked on her water as Alice spoke. She made a quick recovery.
"Helena does manage to get around doesn’t she?" Bette managed. "Do you have any idea who it was?"
"Well, first of all, I don’t think Helena’s been with anyone since she and Tina broke up," Alice explained. "And second of all, no, she wouldn’t give me even a clue as to who was there! Makes me think it’s someone I know."

I think I mentioned their lack of discretion earlier, but on the TV? Man, I wasn’t expecting that. Smiley’s right the shit has hit the fan, but Kit may have to do some clean up after Tina leaves. Yes, we all want another chapter very soon to follow up, so please.
Ok I actually screeched out loud!!!! Bus.ted this is either about to get ugly or really annoying for everyone involved..lol And what is going on with Tina she sounds right smack in the middle of actually having made up her mind about the man thing?
What a way to start my Sunday morning! Awesome that it played ot on the screen for everyone to see… unbelievable. I cannot wait to see where this goes- now that everyone knows is all about Helena and Bette! 5 stars as always.
oh yeah forgot to write that Bette is really bad at the affair or liasons business she should stop while she’s ahead. And of course this story is delicious I had actually gotten over the pairing of Bette & Helena but you keep adding new twists and turns that keep me coming back for more.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Thank you for this wonderfully long chapter…for the true to character dialogue between all of them. And look, you do still like Tina…otherwise you wouldn’t have let her find out about Bette and Helena while she was surrounded by friends, who were also finding out for the first time. If you really hated her, you would have made her find out on her own. Now she will have others to comfort her. Hmmm, I am trying to decide if I am glad about that or not! LOL Thanks for a second chapter this weekend.

Well, poor Tina. She has to watch the similar scene again. I think she’ll be quite mad only because of that.

I hearby declare JKS the queen of the world! I really did not see the scene unfolding like that…but I love it! Yes, I ultimately want Tina and Bette back together but for now I hope that image of Helena and Bette has been seared into Autonomous Tina’s mind. Girl, let me run to the store for some beer and popcorn for the main event aka Tina having a fit. JKS, if time allows please post the showdown after Huricane Ilene’s destruction later tonight. It’s a good thing I learned how to do a back flip the other day because I just might when the secret comes out in your story. Amen!
Brilliant – what a lovely twist! I’m not sure if I feel bad for Tina… nope, just checked, I don’t. However, public humiliation is no fun, unless of course you’re not humiliated because you don’t care. So having reversed my previous position, wouldn’t it be just darn fun if Tina cared?? If all of a sudden seeing it live on tv made it real and real really brought it home – this isn’t a game any more, you’ve lost her and furthermore, you’ve lost her to your ex-lover? Ok, maybe that’s too far out there, considering Tina doesn’t really care. Or does she? Ok, now I’m just being obnoxious. You, jks, are the best — what a wonderfully written chapter, not over the top or ridiculous or too much — how realistic! And Bette – memo on discretion sitting unread in your inbox.
As soon as the camera crew was mentioned, I knew we were headed for an outing of large proportions, but I didn’t factor in the entire gang. Perfect. Send them all reeling at once. I like that Bette won’t have the upper hand to blind-side Tina about Helena. Tina gets a little time to get over the stunned before Bette tries to drop the bomb. Thanks JKS.

What a pleasure to have 2 chapters in the same weekend from you, swimmie! I had an inkling that the camera would capture some of Helena and Bette’s private moments when Bette’s chairman of the board mentioned the camera. Despite Bette’s best intentions to let Tina know about her relationship with Helena first, there is no faking it when there are all-seeing cameras involved…LOL. I seem to recall a certain scene with Bette and C not being discreet…although under different circumstances… Can’t wait for Bette to “tell” Tina!! LOL. Thanks, swim.

Call me crazy but I fill sorry for Tina. I have the filling Tina is having second thoughts about “her man”. Try as I might (that’s a lie), I just can’t get ready for Bette and Helena. I hope in the end Bette and Tina find their way back to each other.

Wow Fins, that’s quite the chapter. I am glad that Bette ~was~ going to have enough class to tell Tina privately. Bette does seem to get herself into trouble at galleries! But, at least Tina has the suport of her friends at this difficult moment. Maybe she will even be happy for Bette. In my own happy world, Bette and Tina will be able to remain friends and raise Angelica with minimal disruption. Looking forward to the next post!

Why is Tina still talking as though this was a temporary thing–“if this change ends up a permanent one”?!? What? She thinks she can sleep with some guy and Bette is gonna wait around? But, to get to the chapter, let me add my compliments too. This is a great chapter and it ought to be interesting to see how everyone comes to terms with this new relationship! Looking forward to it!

Wow, two chapters in one weekend. Once again, an excellent chapter but I expect nothing less from you JKS. Although I was hoping Bette would be able to tell Tina on her own terms, I always knew Bette and Helena’s lack of discretion in public would come back to bite them in the ass. I thought Tina should have been blindsided by Bette’s news just as Bette was by Tina’s news. I know, call me petty. I do hope that Shane or Kit gives Bette a heads up before she encounters Tina though. She’s taken enough of Tina’s crap and shouldn’t have to endure any more of it just because of the way Tina found out. I’m SO ready for the next chapter. Keep up the good work.

I was a diehard tibetter but I love your story because reading a story about a couple that’s really into eachother is far better than all the ugliness portrayed on the show!

Well, they didn’t want to keep it from the group much longer. What better way to find out than together? No matter how much they wanted to ease everyone into the idea, some times it’s best to jump in the deep end of the pool and swim. One concern I have is will the group see this relationship between Bette & Helena as Bette’s way of betraying Tina again? She has no reason to be angry, it was a mutual seperation; however, we all know how emotional Tina can be.Great posting, this is my favorite story right now!
JKS,After a bad week it was wonderful to see not one but two new chapters from your goood self. And what explosive chapters they were. Looks like the cat is well and truly out of the bag now. The shock and horror from the gang will no doubt reverberate for some time and affect all of the interested parties. The good thing is that the truth is there for all to see. Time will only tell if the subterfuge and deception has added to the passion and elictiness of Bette and Helena’s relationship. I don’t believe that this is so but others might.
