    Vignettes: Chapter 63

“Well I’ll be damned!”  Dana said as she nibbled on her muffin at the coffee shop Saturday morning.  “Zoe and Dakota both here for breakfast!  Just like old times.  How’d you do it?”  She looked up at Tina and Bette.

Tina smiled.  “I guess it’s just our lucky day.”

“Kody, are you staying at your parents’ this weekend?”  Alice asked.

“Nah.  Just last night.  I’ve got too much to do this weekend.  Zoe is, though.  She’s the good daughter.”

Bette shook her head and messed up Dakota’s hair.  She hated it when she said things like that.  If there was one thing that hurt Bette, it was when one her daughters thought she wasn’t good enough.  Even though Dakota said that comment in jest, something still tugged at Bette’s heart.  She reached over and squeezed her daughter’s hand.

“What are you guys up to today?”  Zoe asked Dana and Alice.

“We are going shopping with Shane and Damien.  He has a job interview and needs to buy a descent suit.”  Dana replied.

“If you ask me, he just wants something snappy to wear for his new girlfriend.”  Alice said.

Zoe whipped her head around and faced Alice.  “Girlfriend?”

Everyone curiously looked at Zoe, wondering why she suddenly acted so interested.  “What?”  She asked as her cheeks turned pink.  “I just didn’t know he had a girlfriend.”  Zoe went back to picking at her fruit salad.

“Well I guess it’s not official or anything.”  Alice corrected herself.  “I mean, he hasn’t said anything about a girlfriend, but I figured he must be interested in someone.  He’s been acting so strange lately.  And Shane told me he writing a new love song for the guitar.  She overheard him.”

Zoe continued to look at her fruit but the corners of her mouth silently threatened to tug upwards.

“Romance makes me want to vomit.”  Dakota said as she rolled her eyes.

    “What about Joel?”  Dana asked.

“He’s a great guy.  A great friend.”  Dakota emphasized the last word.  “But when I think about thirty years from now, it’s blurry, but definitely no Joel.”

“You’re horrible.”  Zoe said as she laughed.  “I can’t wait to fall in love.”

    1. Fareast,

A little island hopping for Bette and Tina there.

Belly laugh for the bikini top in the fridge. Bet that would get your nipples hard!

As for Zoë, is there a little jealously about Damien’s new paramour? Interesting, very interesting!

      Awaiting their next encounter/adventure.

      Your Loyal Fan.

    2. Bette and Tina’s relationship boring? Well none of us seem to think so!!! This was cute, sweet and sexy. Not to mention flawlessly written as always. Thanks.

    3. What a delight! Dakota sounding a little like Shane. Maybe, but even Shane was eventually broken.

Zoe and Damien sittin’ in a tree……wonder if the new girfriend’s name begins with a Z?

Flashback was great. Nice to show their spontaneous side! Finding the bathing suit in the fridge was priceless.

You do such a marvelous job with this wonderful group of characters. Loving it to pieces.

      Have fun on vacation!
