    Vignettes: Chapter 55

    Three months later

Dakota bounded into the living room throwing herself in between her two moms on the couch.  She wrapped her arms around both of their shoulders, barely able to reach that high and far, and she swung her legs over the edge of the cushion.  She looked from side to side, eyebrows raised.  Bette held back a laugh as she saw a miniature Tina next to her.

“Well ladies… today is a big day.”  Dakota said in an adult voice.

Bette glanced at Tina over Dakota’s head and smirked.  Tina covered her mouth as a giggled tried to escape.

“There will be a baby in the house today and I have been running all around trying to clean everything up.  This place needs to be safe for him.”  Dakota sighed and shook her head.

“Sweetie, Shane isn’t staying with us, though.  Don’t worry too much.”  Tina said.

“But mommy, they will visit here.”

Tina smiled as she watched the excitement wash over her daughter.  She knew Dakota was happy she wouldn’t be the youngest person around for a while.  She felt important and older so she wanted to prove she could look out for someone younger than her.

“Well then it’s a good thing we have you around to help us out.”  Bette said as she winked at Tina.

“I know.”  Dakota sighed again and climbed off the couch.  “What would you guys do without me?”  She asked as she walked back down the hallway.  Tina and Bette heard her shuffling some things in her bedroom.

“Somebody a little excited about having someone else around younger than her?”  Bette asked.

“Shane doesn’t know what she’s getting herself into bringing that baby around.”

“I just can’t wait to get my hands on that little man.”

Tina arched an eyebrow.  “Bette Porter, are you showing a softness for babies?”

    “Just Damien.”  Bette quickly replied.

“Sure.  The next thing I know you’ll be wanting another little one running around the house.”

“Don’t hold your breath. Tina, do you know how old I am?”

“Age means nothing.  You are perfectly capable of raising an infant.”

    1. Far,
As always you have surpassed yourself with this latest installment.
You have no idea how happy I am to see that you will continue on with this work of genius.
How is so few words you manage to capture so much depth of emotions and feelings is awesome.
The interaction between all the character totally blows me away. It is so genuine and lifelike.
The way Dana and Alice never change. The way Shane sees through all the smoke and mirrors to get to the heart of the matter. The way Bette and Tina connect. The way Tina is holding back just a little bit of herself to protect her heart. The way Bette hums and haws before diving in and splashing about as she propose.
All of this makes this a master piece.
I just want to lay back and bask in its glory then grin insanely for the rest of the day as I recall all of the scenes.
Thank you for sharing this talent with me.
      Your Loyal Fan.
PS – Feel free to spin and twist the characters in all directions because I know that they are safe in your callable hands.

    2. Very pleased that you are going to continue this story. It has been like looking at a family album and reminiscing and there are still so many pages left to be filled.

Dakota was so cute in her desire to be the big kid on the block, but still such a child when faced with the reality of such a small baby.

Fear lingers…so true for both of them. Communication will continue to be their key to strengthening the bonds of their relationship. Looking forward to more.

    3. Yay! It’s back! Great bit with the ‘adult’ Dakota, who then reverted to a little girl when someone littler came alone. Looking forward to what’s next with B&T. Very happy to hear it’s not the last. Spin on…can’t wait.

    4. Thank you for continuing this fine story of yours! I was so happy to see that you posted today.

I really enjoy the little Dakota – she is certainly a very fun addition to the family. But will B & T have another one? and I hope they work out Bette’s marriage proposal. Looking forward to many more exciting chapters with your expert spin on them.

As always …. five heart shaped cookies neatly wrapped and tied with a bow and sent with a huge smile! Thanks again for writing!
