Vignettes: Chapter 4
Shane ate a late dinner on a plate Alice had saved for her while everyone chatted and made small conversation, enjoying the wine. They didnt want to bombard Shane with questions, or each other, until she finished eating and had time to breathe. Her flight was delayed and she had been traveling all day. After her last bite, she took a sip of wine and brought her plate to the kitchen. On the couch, she looked around the circle of women and smiled.
Everyone armed and ready? She asked.
They nodded, holding photo albums in their laps.
Youre probably all wondering whats up, right?
They nodded again.
Its been a long time since we have all sat together in the same room, almost six years. A lot has happened. And I have some news. My partner and I are having a baby.
Alices jaw dropped and Tina whispered, Wow.
Shane laughed. I know, I know its shocking but like I said before, so much has happened. Im sure we all have our stories. She looked from Bette to Tina then from Alice to Dana and sighed. Fred encouraged me to call you guys. When I found out she was pregnant, one of my first instinct was to call all you guys and get together to celebrate. But I didnt. I thought it had been too long. Then I saw a picture of Dana in the paper. Fred pushed me to get in touch and I finally listened. I want my baby to know who you all are. I want my child to know who who her mother is. I cant do that unless that baby knows about you. You all took me in and were the best friends I ever had. You are important to me, my family. I never stopped hoping for more, but even if things will never be as they were, we can still sit together for a week and sort through old memories and reconnect.
Shane took a picture out of her album and looked at it fondly before handing it to Tina who then passed it on.

I would love a scene where they all have it out. One big dirty laundry session. I think you could do a great job of writing it.
lots of strong emotions still — maybe they are finally ready for some heavy honesty — great set up == thanks
Please go on his will be great for them all to tell each other how they really feel. They are family make Bette stay..
I like this … so much tension, so much left unsaid, soo much to unravel .. you are doing fantastic, I can’t wait to see how it plays out.
I really like this series, so much to explore. Can’t wait for more. Thanks.
I like this series, please continue. Very good chapter. I love Shane being the focus here.
I am enjoying this so much fareast. I can’t wait to find out what each of them have been doing these past 6 years.
This is good, really damn good!!!
It’s amazing how you are so capable of capturing heavy emotions and palpable tensions in a scene.
Please keep it up.
Bette is not going anywhere. She owes it to herself to stay. She and Tina still seems to be angry with each other. Lets make a good book for that new baby. get the gang to work together one last time.
Oh! The drama! :D Continue, write!
You are telling this tale extremely well…..Can’t wait for the next one….Thanks:)

Hey fareast I am just catching up. Awesome chapter of course. I love how you really give each of your characters a truly distinct personality. I love what you’ve done with shane too.
