Chapter 46 – Tina’s POV

Well I made it out ok, I think. I know that Gracie is mad at Bette, though. I know my friend and the look that she tries so hard to conceal is as plain as day to me. Poor Bette. Hopefully she knows it’s coming.

I lied to Grace, though. I’m not meeting up with Eric. He has a poker game with friends. No tonight, I’m headed over to Shane’s to meet up with the girls.

“TK, you made it!” Shane says gathering me into a hug. She’s been drinking.

“Hey Shane, I brought this.” I tell her handing her a fresh six pack.

“Well, you’re not crying or anything, so I take it it went well.” Alice announces from behind Shane.

“Tina, Alice just showed up.” Shane says with fake enthusiasm.

“Me too!” Dana calls from the kitchen.

“Here. Sit. Tell us everything.” Alice commands pulling me into the apartment.

“Alice, please.” Shane starts. “At least grab her a beer.”

It didn’t take much for me to relay the whole encounter. The whole encounter with Bette was surreal and I needed some help interpreting the whole thing.

“So, are you and Bette, like still in love with each other?” Dana asks.

“Duh, Dane. Look at her face, of course she’s in love.” Alice counters.

“Yeah but it’s not that simple. They’re both with someone.” Dana adds.

“And the people they’re with are close to them.” Shane adds.

“Guys. I don’t need a recap” I tell them. “I know the story. And it’s not helping. Besides, Bette’s hesitating for some reason. I think she really is unsure about us.”

“And what about you?” Alice asks.

“I’m more sure. But, like I said I do have strong feelings for Eric.” I remind them.

“Ugh, why?” Dana asks. “He’s just so manly, with the muscles and excess testosterone, and the guy smell, and…” she stops when she realizes we’re all staring at her. “What? I don’t get it.”

“You’re such a lesbian, Dane.” Shane says simply.

“I know, ok. I’m gay. Can we take the focus off of me please?”

“I don’t know Dane, do you want to expand on why you think boys are gross?” Alice asks playfully.

“No, I don’t. Sorry Tina.”
