    Zooming In

    "Fuck!" Tina yelled as she slammed the computer mouse down. She had been in the media room for hours and she was only done editing half of her film project for video production class. Maybe if she wasn’t so distracted with the mall incident with Bette the day before, she would have been long gone. Bette said that she couldn’t make the next tutoring session for personal reasons but Tina already knew why. It was only her left in the room and she craned her neck to read the digital numbers on the clock above the classroom door. 5:30

     

     

    Hazen High School’s Speech and Debate team applauded as Bette finished her speech on public displays of affections in schools and how it’s an issue to some students. (Hm…I wonder why she wrote about that.) She thanked her peers and packed up. It was only five thirty and she didn’t have to be home until seven. When dropping Tina off yesterday, she canceled the next time she would be able to see her. She was scared silly on how awkward it would be and decided to avoid it by making sure Tina and her would never end up in one room together.

    "That was really good Bette," Coach Klein said as he wrote a few notes down on his planner. His freaskishly large mustache was what made him well-known. "See you at practice tomorrow?"

    "Yeah," Bette said. ‘At least now I can concentrate on Speech and Debate," she thought.

    Bette ran down the stairs, praying she wouldn’t miss the Metro bus that goes closest to her place. She passed by the science rooms and the tech classes. Her pace was even as she saw a few students staying after for help or trying to kiss their teachers’ ass for a better grade. She was almost out the door when…

    "Bette!" Tina said as she stuck her head out the the doorway.

    Bette turned around and was facing Tina. They weren’t in a secluded spot but they were still alone.

    "What are you doing here?" Tina asked trying to cut the tension.

    "Speech and Debate," Bette said, pointing up to where Coach Klein’s classroom was. "What are you doing here?"

    "Video Production class," Tina said. It was one of the two classes she didn’t have with Bette. The other was P.E. She coughed hoping Bette would find a reason to stay. "Going home?"

    2. the pace is great. I think Tina needs to come clean to Bette and let her know she is attracted to her. Bec right now she is acting like those silly girls i knew in high school that would flirt with u just to see how long it would take for u to reciprocate.

    3. Maybe now or maybe later. I dont think Tina would go for it right away. She would think about her reputation first and what her other so called friends would do and that will influence her. Bette needs to do something about her feelings, maybe Shane could hook her up with her first girl. But, just my opinion. You are writing a great high school story. Can’t wait for the next post.

    4. I would love to say right now, but I know not everything in life is instant. I agree with ladydove. Tina needs to sort out her stuff first. This is a fantastic story, do what you think is right. PPS! Happy Holidays! =)

    7. Real life high school experience involves conceit, cruelty, jealousy, gossip, rejection, insecurity, humiliation, clumsiness, and lots of masturbation. I’m just sayin’. But you’ve covered most of the bases thus far so I think whenever you feel the time is right…it will probably be right.

    8. Just caught up on this story…The pace is perfect and I to think Bette should have a date with some girl, see how Tina reacts to it and so on… Please post soon

    11. i’m loving the slow burn too, the pace is fine, i agree with another comment that maybe Bette could hook up with someone else first (not serious of course – just for practise!) – see how Tina would handle seeing that…Bettes had to endure it! whichever way you go though just please post soon!!
