    Tipping Point – Chapter 8

Tina sighed heavily as she closed the album, flipping
through past images had brought back countless memories of the events that had
helped to shape their life together and the people who shared in their journey.
So many emotions that were tied to those recollections seemed to be in direct
conflict with life as it was now. Wiping the last of her tears away, Tina raised
her arms up over her head to stretch out her back. An hour of hunching over the
album at the dining table had her neck aching. The photos brought back a
plethora of occasions that had been relegated to the archives of Tina’s mind as
time had marched on. With the near constant struggle against overwhelming
nightmares, flashbacks and a sense of hopelessness that underpinned every day,
Tina simply had no emotional energy to look back beyond the day that had
    changed everything.

Four photos lay on the table beside the album, ones that had
resonated the loudest as Tina worked her way through the compilation. Standing
from the table, she carried the album back to its home on the bookshelf.

“What are these?” Bette asked as Tina turned to see her wife
flipping through the loose prints in her hands.

“Those are the ones that I want to take with me when I go to
the residential program.” Tina said as she closed the distance between them.

Bette felt relief flood her body, she’d been clinging to the
hope that Tina would see reason. The brunette was certain this was what they
both needed more than anything right now.

“Really?” Bette couldn’t contain the smile that lit up her eyes.

“We had a great life, anyone would want that back.” Tina
said with a small shrug of her shoulders.

“Do you want to take a look at the facility first, we could
take a drive up there in the morning?”

    “It’s Canyon Lodge right?”

    Bette nodded.

“Sandy told me it’s the best in the state, I’m sure it’s
    fine.” Was the nonchalant reply.

“Want me to call and see when they can take you?”

“Sure” Tina nodded before taking a seat at the dining table
and listening as Bette made her enquiry and the subsequent arrangements.

    “T?”

Looking up the younger woman watched as her partner put the
    phone back on its cradle.

“They suggested that we head up about 2:00pm tomorrow.”
Bette said as she walked back into the dining area.

    1. First time i have read this story so i went back over all the previous chapters. It’s a compelling, emotional and heartbreaking read.I so hope Tina get and accepts the help she needs so much. You have me hooked.

    2. That Tina has agreed to go to the facility, at least trying to find the person that she was via looking at their photos, and that she needed Bette to show her that she’s loved… all big steps in a good and healthy direction. Thanks for another great chapter. Cheers, HG.

    3. Glad to see Tina turned a corner. Mental illness of every type is heart breaking to witness…even harder if it’s someone you love. The decline of someone with no fight left in them is the worst though – thanks for offering us a glimmer of hope that Tina has some fight left! (I usually comment sooner – I read this chapter earlier in the weekend, but I don’t trust the magical free wireless access that floats around and I’m not willing to log into any account on it!)
