Chapter one…

Bette Porter made her way through the streets of LA, trying to forget everything that happened in the last few months. She tried to block those memories out of her head, but again she failed. The images kept playing in her head, over and over again. Even now, when she was in another continent, another country, far away from home, she still had that awful picture in her head. She had left Europe to start again, to begin a new life whit a fresh start, but to do so she needed to be able to forget all about Belgium and everything that had happened there. When she had decided to leave, she just put her finger somewhere on the globe, letting fate decide where to take her and it had been Los Angeles. She had gathered al her belongings and had taken the first plane straight to LA. She was certain she would miss Belgium, but couldn’t stand living there anymore, it reminded her too much of what had happened.

She had lived in a hotel for the past three days and decided it would be a good time to find an apartment. She found some ads in the newspaper and went to check some out. She stopped at a big building, looked at the sky above her and took a deep breath. She exhaled and entered the building. It was the last apartment on her list and she really needed to make a decision. After taking a look around in the apartment, she decided that this was the best offer presented to her and rented the apartment. She moved her stuff to her new place and decided to go look for a job. She found some job offers for accountant, which was the profession she practiced in Belgium. She send out some rsums to different companies and after a few days she got an interview at a mobile company. They loved her during the interview and she got the job. For the next two months, she dedicated her life to her job, trying to forget everything that happened. It actually helped and soon she felt satisfied about her life again. She even received a car from the company and she absolutely loved her work there. She had always loved working with numbers and to be able to continue her profession here in LA made her happy.
