Watching the baby sleep, Bette let her mind drift away, relaxing, just enjoying the moment.
But then, out of nowhere, reality hit her hard. There she was, holding her baby, their baby. There was Tina, at her side, peacefully sleeping. Checking on Tina, seeing her beautifully sleeping, with exhaustion still all over her face, Bette realized how her life changed in less than a day. The day before at this exact hour she was still dreaming about all this, praying for a chance, for a minute alone with Tina, for a miracle.

And now, all of a sudden she had it all. She was back with Tina. Or at least, Tina was still back in her life. Looking at Tina, seeing her sleep, at her side, sharing the same tiny bed, Bette felt her body tightening by fear. She didnt know what the deal was, how it was going to be. Were they going to live together?, was Tina going back to her place? Looking at Tina, feeling the babys warm body in her arms, Bette thank god for them but she also prayed, one more time, for a chance to make things right this time. She wanted them, she wanted them now. But she was not sure about that yet. She didn?t have the opportunity to sort things out, the every day little details with Tina.
She didnt want to presume, to take things for granted. She learnt her lesson, she needed to know, she still needed to talk with Tina about it all. To tell her, to show her, to love her. Nodding, Bette realized that at least, the chance was there, she knew she was going to have the time,the moment to do it.

But now, looking around, Bette realized that in that room, on that bed was all she ever wanted, all she ever dreamt about. She wanted them and she wanted them now. Sighing, realizing it, Bette felt her body trembling again.

Trying to relax, to calm down, she closed her eyes briefly just to open them at the sound of a knock on the door. Opening the eyes she saw Danas face appearing at the doors frame just to disappear again. A few seconds later Dana was walking inside followed by Alice.

“Hey!” Bette whispered widely smiling to her friends till her eyes rested on Alices face.

“What happened to you?” She whispered again clumsily holding the baby while trying to get off the bed without waking Tina up.

Noticing the words, the movement on the bed, Tina opened the eyes.

“Hey” she lazily mumbled seeing their friends. Then, moving to look at Bette she smiled even widely.

“Hey” she sweetly whispered watching Bette holding the baby.

Smiling, Bette moved carefully, waiting for a second till Tina, comfortable seated on the bed, extended her arms to get the baby. Taking the baby in her arms for the first time, Tina felt her whole body trembling with emotion. After staring at the baby for a long couple of minutes she looked up to rest her eyes on Bettes.

“She looks like you…” Bette said caressing the babys wrinkled little hand.

Like appearing from nowhere, Alice and Dana moved closer to the bed. Remembering them, Tina and Bette looked up at them.

“Hey” Tina said, just before noticing Alices face.

“How you feeling?” She added.

Shrugging, wanting to forget about her face, Alice shook her head.

“You look like a clown…what happened to you?” Asked Bette again, trying to guess what happened.

“Am ok…is nothing…just some allergy..”

“To what?” insisted Bette, noticing how the cream was covering just Alices mouth outline, like a moustache.

“Nothing, ok?” Alice said again trying to change the topic.

“What were you?… .how did you?” Started asking Bette till suddenly, she realized the naked truth

“Ohh…” she mumbled trying to hide the wicked smile that the look on Danas face was painting on her face.

Blushing widely, Dana moved close to Tinas bed trying to escape Bettes look.

“Is so cute…sooo tiny” She sweetly whispered leaning down to see the baby better.

“She is” Bette agreed, forgetting about Alice, sitting even closer to Tina.

“Uhh, she? I thought it was a boy…” Pointed Alice trying to take a better look of the baby.

“Yeah, we thought that too….”Bette said unable to move her eyes from the baby

“Al!…dont be so close…you gonna scare her…” Dana mumbled, agreeing with Bettes statement about the clown.

“Clowns are scary…” She added, noticing the hurt look on Alices face.

“Whats her name?” Alice asked from the end of Tinas bed.

Looking up from the baby, locking her eyes with Bettes, Tina said the word slowly, carefully, full of meaning and love.

“Lily”

“Lily?” Asked Dana and Bette in unison.

Feeling tears running to her eyes, Bette gulped.

“Bettes mom?” Asked Alice looking at Tina.

Nodding, Tina smiled loving seeing pride and happiness all over Bettes face.

“Yeah…” Tina nodded, adding, “Lily Kennard Poter”

“I like it” Dana said, unable to move her eyes from the baby.

“Me too” Whispered Bette leaning down to rest her lips on Tinas.

“Thank you” she mumbled, trying to stop the threatening tears.

“She looks like you, Bette” Dana, in her usual clueless state, said.

Looking away from each other, Bette and Tina looked down to the baby.

“She does…she has your beautiful skin” Tina said caressing the babys cheek.

Nodding feeling her heart breaking from happiness, Bette gulped.

“Ok, ok… guys this looks like a Hallmark movie…Dane, move…let me see her, ok…”Alice said using her teasing, professional tone.

Seeing Alice moving closer to the baby, Bette smiled, catching the glimpse on Tinas eyes,

“Al…could you drive me home and then to Tinas?”

“Eh?…hey!…I dont look that bad…besides…shes totally asleep….”Alice said pointing the baby, unaware of the look Bette and Tina shared.

“I know…is not that..I need to change my clothes and Tina needs a few things…”

“Oh…” Alice mutter looking from Tina to Bette”..ok…sure”

Seeing Bette and Alice walking away, Dana said shyly, looking at Tina,

“May I?”

Noticing the look on Danas face, how she was offering her arms, Tina smiled, nodding,

“Of course” She said leaving the baby on Danas arms. Just as she was doing so a nurse knocked on the door.

“Hello….hows the little princess doing?” She asked walking to Tinas bed.

“Shes ok” Tina happily said.

“Good…because its lunch time!”

“What?” Asked Dana, looking up from the baby to the nurse.

” you going to breastfeed, right? Asked the nurse to Tina who, trying to process the sudden information, all she was able to do was to nod.

“Ok..you know how to do it, right?”

Taking the baby from Dana, the nurse placed it on Tinas clueless arms.

“Cant we wait?…I…Im sure Betted love to be here…” Tina said, looking for an exit, for some time to process the moment.

“Honey, she will have plenty of opportunities to see it…”The nurse said, used as she was of first time moms fears.

“Ook…” muttered Tina seeing the nurse opening her hospital camisole.

Uh!…oh…” Dana mumbled suddenly noticing Tinas breast. Blushing, trying to look away, pretending to clean her shoe, she added,

Ehh…mmm…Tee..uh..I..Ill wait outside, ok?”

Before Tina could say anything, the nurse placed the baby just on the right spot. Feeling the baby grabbing her nipple, feeling her sucking, Tina mumbled,

“Oooh..”

Hearing Tina, Dana looked up, resting her eyes on Tinas breast, just as the baby was being feed. Smiling, the nurse said,

“You are lucky, not many first time mothers get it the first time.”..Noticing the amazed look on Danas face, she added,

“Not all the babies get the nipple the first time, either”

Blushing even harder, wanting to vanish, Dana nodded.

“Ok…will be back in a few…”the nurse said walking to the door “Buzz me if you need me” she added just before stepping out.

Unable to move, to pronounce a word, Tina nodded, feeling her arms bigger and useless holding the baby. Minutes passed and neither of them say a word till Dana, finally able to look up from the baby whispered,

“Does it hurt?”

Startled by Danas words, back in reality, Tina smiled. Shaking her head, she said,

“Eh?…no…not really…is…heyyyyy!” She suddenly said quickly looking down at the baby.

“What?” Asked Dana, concerned.

Chuckling, shaking her head again, Tina said,

Nothing…maybe a little (Tina said, smiling) …is strange…I dont know…is…”

Nodding, getting what Tina was trying to say, Dana smiled, caressing the babys soft arm.

Resting the head on the window, seeing the city moving outside, Bette sighed. Everything seemed different, the light was different, the traffic, the people looked different.Noticing Bettes quietness, Alice said,

“She is beautiful”

Alices words brought Bette back to reality. Turning to looking at her, Bette smiled for a few long seconds before saying,

“Would you be Lilys godmother?”

“What?” Asked Alice turning to look at Bette, swinging with the car.

“Al! be careful!!” Bette yelled, grabbing the wheel.

“Eh?..Yeah..sure…” Alice muttered looking back to the road.

“Will you?” Asked Bette again.

Pulling the car into a small street, Alice parked it.

“Are you serious?” She asked, dead serious under the clowns cream face.

Nodding, Bette smiled.

“Yeah…we are…”

Smiling, not sure what to say, staring at Bette, Alice nodded.

“It was Tinas idea…”Bette added, but then seeing the change on Alices face, she added, “…which I immediately agreed … youve been great with her…with both of us…”

“I did nothing…” Alice whispered shaking her head.

“You were her friend…and you continued being mine…”

Nodding Alice said,

“Ive always been your friend Bette…”

“I know” Bette mumbled looking down

“You were an *****…but still my ***** friend….” she added, trying to put some humour to the moment.

“I know” chuckled Bette.

“Tina says that you are just perfect for the job…”

“Job?… What job?… what exactly does a godmother?” Alice asked, starting the engine.

“I dont know…pay for college I think…” Bette nonchalantly said looking through the window.

“Yeah right!…you wish… I will be the fairy godmother…” Alice said, smiling widely “…she will adore me…” She proudly added.
