THE VAMPIRE AND THE SLAYER- Chapter 3: HOPES

They rolled on the bed, kissed, and lay at the side of each other. A short silence gave them time to recover their voices.

Tina: (moving her face looking for shelter on the brunette’s shoulder) “that was incredible”

Bette: (hardly breathing) “yeah… amazing… being inside you and feeling you inside me…”

Tina: “may we do that more frequently?”

    Bette: (laughing) “absolutely, my love”

The next day, early in the morning, Tina and Bette went to check on Jenny; sitting on a sofa, a sleepy Shane with Carmen was already in the room, in a suspicious position.

Bette: “hi girls, have you been the whole night with her?”

Shane: (awaking) “yeah…, well we took turns”

Tina: “did she open her eyes?”

    Shane: “no, she was peaceful”

    Bette: “good”

Shane: “I hear Louise coming earlier, but Helena took her somewhere else”

    Tina: “really?”

Bette smiled making a secretive sign to Shane.

Shane: “we better wait for Louise to come back”

This was suspicious for Tina, but not for Bette and Shane who have already noticed the flirting between Helena and Louise.

Bette and Tina offered to stay watching Jenny, so Shane and Carmen could have breakfast.

Looking carefully at the new bitten on the bed, the couple waited for Louise to come.

Bette: “it was scary seeing her last night”

Tina: “yeah, but fortunately we did the right thing.”

Bette: “have you seen that before?”

Tina: “you mean the red lights from the girl’s eyes?”

    Bette: “yup”

Tina: “no, but Louise told me it shows there is an intense battle inside the poor soul… a life and death battle… I’m not talking about the body…, but the soul. Her soul is not giving up, it’s still with her. But the use of it has been denied because she was bitten by a vampire. Her soul may leave her forever and she may become a real vampire… whom I hope Louise could avoid”

Bette: “then… she isn’t a real vampire yet.”

Tina: “I don’t think she is… but it may change… why?”

Bette: “I saw something similar in my assistant and friend, James; he was attacked along with us, I saw him after the attack he was almost like the girl, but he was able to walk and he ran away.”

Tina: “hmm… I hope he could hide from the killers… did you hear anything about him?”

Bette: “no, we looked for him everywhere… (sadness) couldn’t find him.”

    Tina: “that’s really sad.”

There was a silence interrupted by a knock on the door.

Bette: (opening the door) “hi Louise.”

Louise and Helena arrived, holding hands, but let go as the door opened.

Louise: “hi Bette, Tina I’m glad you acted fast, otherwise she could have transitioned.”

Tina: (suspiciously observing Louise and Helena) “I just did what you taught me, and it worked”

Louise: “good, because I have new information, I already shared with Helena”

    Tina: “what is it?”

Louise: “I contacted other witches…, I mean good witches…, and apparently there is a small group of witches, a covenant, they have ancient secret knowledge about how to reverse the vampirism.”

Bette: “are you talking about a cure for all of us.”

Louise: “I’m not totally sure, but it may be a good possibility”

Tina: “what do you mean a possibility?”

Helena: “the covenant is very closed and secretive; we may or not get something from them”

Tina: “but we have to try, right”

Louise: (serious and scared) “yeah, but it won’t be easy, and we all may lose all that we already gained.”

Tina: “we have gained nothing; those vampires keep attacking innocent people, and only a few of the victims still have a soul, and they are growing in number each day.”

Louise: “and they get rich, as your family lawyer Fay Buckley.”

Tina: “are you sure about her?”

Louise: “we may talk later if you want, but now we have to make decisions.”

Bette: “what do we have to decide?”

Louise: “do you wanna pursuit the encounter with the covenant?”

Bette: “we have to, is our only chance to change back to normality.”

Louise: “okay, I suggest having a meeting and take a final decision.”

Bette: “and where is that group of witches, the covenant? Where should we look for them?”

    Louise: “California.”
