Where there was Alice, there might be Helena.
Bette gazed around the room, both hoping and fearing she’d come across Helena Peabody’s baby blues.
She didn’t.
But her eyes did land on Alice’s and her perky blonde friend waved her over to the table she shared with her new friend.
"Hey Bette!" said Alice.
"Hey Al," Bette replied, pulling a few strands of hair behind her ear.
Alice gestured to the woman across from her. "Bette, this is Tasha Williams."
Recognition flashed in Bette’s eyes and a wide smile broke out across her face. "Hi! You’re Tasha. It’s nice to meet you in person. You seem to be a true source of inspiration for Alice."
The women shook hands as Tasha smiled and replied, "It’s nice to meet you, too."
Bette’s brow furrowed and she asked, "I thought you were going overseas?"
Tasha shook her head and gestured down to the cast that covered her left leg. "I thought so, too."
"Oh my goodness. What happened?" asked Bette.
"Stupid accident. I was loaded up with gear and heading for the transport to take me to training camp. I slipped on something and fell down a flight of cement stairs. My leg is broken in three places. The only place I’ll be going is back behind a desk on base," Tasha answered.
"I’m sorry to hear about your leg. That looks pretty painful," said Bette.
"It was. Now this damn thing just itches." Tasha answered with a chuckle.
Alice smiled. "Well the military’s loss is my gain. Now that Tasha’s going to be around for a while, she agreed to help me out with my website. I’ve got a schedule together and everything. It’s going to launch in about two weeks and Kit’s going to let me hold a launch party here."
Bette didn’t know why, but the sound of Alice so excited about something so purposeful brought tears to her eyes.
"Are you going to cry?" asked Alice, standing up to meet Bette.
Bette rolled her eyes and as she spoke, her lips trembled. "I just…I’m so proud of you, Alice. You have this light….this glow about you and I’m just so happy for you. You’re doing a really great thing and I can’t wait to see it."
Alice hugged her friend and as they embraced, Alice whispered. "Do you think Dana would be proud?"
"I know she would. Just remember, she’s still in your heart. And she’s still watching out for you. So don’t worry, she’s proud of you," Bette replied.
Bette let Alice and Tasha get back to work, picked up her pasta, and headed home.

Kit is very wise, though i’m not sure Bette is ready to hung out with Tina yet, especially now that her mind is filled with Helena…
Well that’s just great, leave us wanting more:))) And disagree with Kit…think Bette would easily move on if there is no Angie…Anyway…you like the drama, don’t you?? is it tibette or belena…is she going out on friday or not…I’m gonna prepare myself an buy tons of chocolate just to deal with pressure:))))

I do not agree with Kit. Yes Tina broke up with Henry and maybe she needs a friend, but I don´t know how anyone can expect of Bette to be that friend. Thanks for posting so frequently. It´s a great story.
Bette is so unsure of herself. Not like her. Good writing.
oh come guys, is there any hellebette/belena in here or at least for this story. I would like to see them together and see how would react Tina at the sight of them. lol
no helena and bette, please! Helena should be old news. If I were bette, I would not go for somebody whom tina dumped. Please give bette some decency and taste. I think bette is so vulnerable and needs more attention now. Helena is more like a rebound. She just fills bette’s emptiness.
Take away Helena’s physical attractiveness and what does she have to offer to a relationship? She lost her money and became a whore, gambler and criminal because she couldn’t survive without Peggy paying her way and bailing her out of all her sexual indiscretions. Even at the end of S6 when she got her money back she became an alcoholic and woman chaser. Helena is now unemployed and unemployable so whats the plan? She gets with Bette so Bette can support her while she stays home and does her nails? She’s got two kids that she abandoned and an ex-wife that she treated like crap. I wouldn’t wish her on Bette and I certainly wouldn’t want her in Angie’s life. Bette can do better and be better for the right person.
I think Bette is wrong with her assumption that Tina ‘sauntered back in when she was ready’, because she was never ready she just needed a familiar place to stay, and sadly that was Bette. She never really took the time to solve any of her issues, she just jumped back into her life with Bette and somehow resented Bette more in the process. And I agree with the majority here that its a big mistake for Bette to accept Tina’s invitation to the movies, in addition it will send the wrong message to Tina, as Bette is convinced she is just going as a friend and Tina expects much more of her than friendship. What is Kit up to suggesting Bette go to the movies with Tina, she should know better, as she is one of the few people who know Bette’s weakness when it comes to Tina. Great story, Thanks.
Tibette is not dead. They just still in the ice age. And because they both behaved so badly to each other they SHOULD be in Siberia right now. But you watch, global warming is real. Can’t stop it now…….
Hey MTS, I hope the shower was refreshing rather than dampening your spirits.I think Kit is right on the money with Bette’s behavior towards Tina.If everything was over then Bette wouldn’t be questioning her or Tina’s motives right now.Yes, Bette is very attracted to the strong and beautiful Helena however I felt that a fling and infatuation is what is going on between them.Bette’s dalliance with Candace proved that when Bette is in turmoil she shuts herself off from those she truly loves and goes for someone who will take charge and force Bette to relinquish it.Helena, too is licking her wounds as Peggy’s actions have shaken Helena’s very soul. Helena needs some loving to rebuild the charsmatic character she is.I still believe that Bette and Helena will have a love affaire however it will force all three gals to assess their loves, lives and desires.It will be fun and very enjoyable then prompt Tina into action to go get her woman and prove to Bette that she is the love of Tina’s life. They both contributed to their psat mistakes so deal with them and then move on to a brighter future.2 cents done.MTS, it is your fantastic skill and talent as a author that makes me so passionate about these characters and the stroyline you are creating.Thank you so much for the comment and continued postings.Your Loyal Fan.

Bette better not put too much stock in any of Kit’s observations or advice. Kit’s not being honest with herself or with Bette about their relationship as I think she holds some contempt for Bette and that is coming out in this situation. Bette and Tina both need to forego the movie and take the time to have a heart to heart. Bette needs to have the courage and the decency to tell Tina exactly what she told Kit. Having gone through the breakup with Henry and seeing what it did to him plus the truths that he laid out to her about herself should have a definite affect on how Tina receives Bette’s message. Even if it hurts it will be best to be honest and upfront if they even stand a chance of being civil co-parents, friends, or lovers. Tina can make clear her intent and then they can both move on from there. Helena in the mix is just another bad idea. Whether Bette uses Helena for sex to meet her needs or to feel desired and wanted, or as some have suggested that Bette being with Helena will make Tina jealous and have her go after her woman, or Helena using Bette to pass the time, or whatever this love triangle results in. The fact is Bette has to grow a pair and deal with both of these women for the sake of her own sanity. She’s afraid of Tina and she’s at Helena’s mercy at the moment. I haven’t seen any evidence of Bette’s so called “new found strength and firm footing”. As much as I love Bette I think she’s pretty pathetic right now and she’s really reminding me of S4 Bette which is when I think she’d sunk to the lowest point in her feeling of self-worth. She seems to have really good advice for Kit and all her friends but when it comes to dealing with her own stuff she’s clueless. Thanks for keeping us all enthralled with your story and though I read each chapter with trepidation I do look forward to each new post.
Hey just read the last one posted. NIce one. I’m with keep, in this story I would like to see a belena for a change instead of tibette. Belena is so much more powerful and they are very alike as personality :). I’m sorry for Tina, but she missed once again her chance.:(But anyway, can’t wait for the next one :)
I think Bette is right about Tina sauntering in and out of the relationship twice and I think that is what is stifling them and keeping them from moving on in any direction. Tina never gave Bette the courtesy she gave Henry of having a break-up. The first time she was hurt by the affair and took some time but then she came back to the house when she needed someplace to stay. That morning she was considering getting back with Bette and that evening she decided she’d rather be with Helena but she never broke up with Bette she just walked away again. The second time she started having feelings for men and once again she didn’t breakup with Bette she just moved into a relationship with Henry while Bette was away. They have unfinished business because they never dealt properly with the breakups or makeups. Even on the show Jodi and Bette had a proper breakup. Bette and Tina were never afforded that. They need to breakup before they can even think about making up. I’m very intrigued as to where you are taking this journey. PPS
I do not think Bette is ready to hang out with Tina. If Tina needs a friend she need to hang with Alice or someone new. Very good chapter!!! Thank you PPS
No, no, Tibette is not dead! Their hearts belong to the other, but they need to go slow to find that special something again. Tina knows she screwed up, Bette is leery of her. It will take time. Love this. PPS!!

And when Tina was ready, she always sauntered back in.”While Bette had never walked out on Tina, she went away and she wandered around, away from Tina. When their life got difficult, Bette decided to be unfaithful to Tina. She also moved away and closed off her emotional self from Tina.After she was caught and confronted by Tina, a part of Bette had still chosen to remain away from Tina and continued to wander around. Bette had her fair share of taking her time to get herself ready when she thought she was out of love. And only when Bette was ready, she walked back with her declaration of her undying love for her then love of her life. And not long after the declaration and Tina’s rebuff, she had a one-night stand. So to me, in a way, B&T aren’t that different. They are both kinda confused.Some of the earlier comments made me think about B&T not having a proper break-up…Hm, why? I don’t know. Maybe it was too painful and a break-up just wasn’t what either really wanted. But with people you know you definitely want out of your life, you just go ahead and nip it in the bud.
