Okay, classes offically started today. I may not be able to write as much, but I will try. I won’t disappear just less frequent. Don’t worry though, I already finished up to chapter 12. I’m just not satisfied w/ them yet.

Now to the story…

Ron and Shane were walking home again. But this time there was none of the comfort and closeness from before.

Ron was the first to break the awkward silence that was practically a living entity between them. SoI was waiting for you today for our daily lunch, but you never show. Is everything okay, Shane?

Ohrightyeahit slipped my mind. I was hung up with something. You know, stuff happened, Shane answered distractedly. Her demeanor showed that she did not want to pursue this conversation any further.

They fell silent again. Ron was getting this weird feeling that Shane was pulling away from her. She is so distant all of a sudden. No you are just thinking crazy. She is probably feeling guilty about last night.

So lost in her own doubts, Ron not even realized that they arrived back at the house. Once inside they got news that Jake was out of town on business with his buddies for a few days. It was a slight reprieve for everyone to savor.

Ron was excited with the prospect of Jake being out of town. More importantly the fact that Shane and her will have some time together without fear.

In their room, Shane threw her bag aside and plopped down on the bed, in her usual slouching position.

Looking at her, Ron couldnt help but smiled. Shane always looked like she has no care in the world, so relax. You wouldnt know of the turmoil that she might be feeling at that moment or the various thoughts that were running through her head. She always projected a good front.

Ron too tossed her bag aside but instead of going to her own bed she walked toward Shanes. She laid down next to Shane draping her hand over Shanes stomach in a familiar manner. Not saying anything, just living in the moment.

Taking in the smell and the presence of Shane was enough to elevate any misgivings from before. Ron fell into their usual routine of telling Shane what happened during her day.

Mr. Goode was his usual bore today. I could not concentrate on one word that he was saying. Luckily he did not call on me or I wouldnt have known what to say

Shane thought, What am I doing here?

Jess told me that there is a new movie coming out with Tom Hank, something Gump

I cant get too comfortable with Ron anymore. I shouldnt allow her to be so close with me like this, but it feels so good with her by my sideCome on Shane. Snapped out of it. Just follow the plan.

Yup that was pretty much my day. How about u? Anything exciting?

Shane finally looked down at Ron lying so contently at her side. She took Rons hand and removed it from its position on her stomach. In an agitated manner, Shane extracted herself away from Ron and the bed. All the while saying, Look, this is getting old. Im going to take advantage of Jake not being here to go have some fun.

Shane slowly walked backward toward the door. Im feeling a little restless, you know. She clapped her hand together and brought them to her mouth before saying, Alright. Later.

Shane practically ran out of the house lest she lost control and came back to Ron and apologized for her behavior. This is the way it has to be and you know it, she tries to tell herself.

The slamming of the front door vibrated through the house and into Rons heart leaving a crack in its wake. Why? Ron wondered. Why is Shane being like this? Does she not love me anymore?

Ron left Shane bed and went back to her own. She did not belong there anymore.

Outside Shane crossed the street and climbed the huge tree that graced the front yard of the opposing house. She made sure that no one saw her. Shane shifted until she found a comfortable spot and laid back. The thick leaves sealed her from any onlookers but still provided her with a view of the house. She was not going anyway just in case Jake got back early. It was going a long night.
