Shane and Ron looked tentatively at each other as they shook Andreas warm hand.

She has a nice smile, Shane thought while Ron envisioned being a part of a family again.

Andrea smiled at them again and asked, Would you like to sit down? I have something to ask you.

The three walked the living area. Andrea sat down across from Shane and Ron. Shane noticed for the first time that Jake was noticeably missing along with his wife Jill. At this point Shane did not really care as long as they were not here.

Andrea started slowly, So I have wonderful news Veronica or should I say Ron

With just those words everything took on a surreal life for Shane. It was over. Andrea wasnt there for them. She was there to take Ron away to a better place leaving her by herself in this darkness. Alone again. She was alone again.

Ron bubbled happily, Shane did you here. Some wonderful couple will take us away from here.

Stop deluding yourself Ron, Shane said harshly. They want YOU not ME. With that Shane stormed out of the room.

Shane slammed the door shut to her room hoping to block out the voices outside without any success.

Ron said, She is wrong right? You mean both of us right? Ron could feel a steady rising panic at just the thought of not being with Shane.

Andrea saw Rons distress and did not know how to eliminate it. Im sorry Ron. The Patersons have only expressed interest in you.

Ron shrugged Andreas hand off her. Well tell them I dont want them. It would be either Shane and I or nothing.

I know you may feel that way right now but how about I come back in a week. Just think about it okay. Not everyone is as lucky as you. The Patersons are good people. Think about it Ron.

Shane heard the whole conversation between Ron and Andrea. A part of her couldnt help but be glad that Ron decided to stay with her. Another part, a deeper part thought, This would be good for her. Ron is not strong enough for this life and she deserves something better. Whatever was going through Shanes head came to a halt. Only Ron could do that to her.
