    Bette stared into her sister’s eyes and took a deep breath, blowing it out slowly, “I love Tina. I’m in love with her and I just…I just can’t bear the thought of losing her again.

    “You mean Jodie? Breaking up with her?”

    “Do I have a choice? Guess I can’t seem to be too faithful, huh? Why the hell would Tina want me back?”

    “Bette, I’ve seen the way Tina has been looking at you lately. And I hear your name come up in her conversations more than it has any right to. She’s feeling you. Maybe she just needs you to take the lead.”

    “I did. I kissed her, remember?”

    “Yes, but you didn’t tell me what happened after.”

    Kit jumped as the door to her office swung open,

    “Kit. Hey, Shane ran into to those Shebar girls – I think…”Alice stopped short when she realized Kit wasn’t alone. “Hey Bette, what’s up? Hey… are you okay?”

    “I’m fine, Alice” Bette wiped her cheek with the back of her hand and gave her sister a tight squeeze, “I’ll talk to you later.” Bette smiled as she walked by Alice, patting her arm. “See you soon, okay?”

    Alice watched as Bette closed the door behind her, and then set her sights on Kit, “What was that all about?”

    “Leave it alone, Alice…” Kit was gentle, but pointed, “So what were you saying about those girls?”

    CHAPTER 2

    Bette exited Kit’s office and made a bee-line for the restroom. She had a meeting with Phyllis scheduled in an hour or so and needed a moment to freshen up. She was so concentrated in trying to process her conflicting emotions that she barely registered the quiet greeting. It wasn’t until she lifted her head and met Tina’s reflected gaze in the mirror above the sinks, that she realized she wasn’t alone. Tina smiled and Bette could feel her chest constrict and fresh tears well at the corner of her eyes ‘damn it Porter don’t do this’ she chastised herself.

    “Hi,” Bette managed a weak smile.

    “Hi, yourself,” Tina turned and fixed her hazel eyes on Bette, “You okay, you don’t look so hot?”

    “I just…I…had a rough night.”

    “Everything okay with you and Jodie?” Tina hoped her clipped tone wasn’t noticeable.

    “Great. Never better.” Bette managed in one breath. ‘Fuck! What are you saying?’

    “Good for you.” Tina tried to smile but failed miserably.

    Bette attempted to speak, but could do nothing more than open and shut her mouth without a word. All she could think to do was to extend her shaky hand to Tina, watching in wonder as Tina grasped hit; hesitantly at first, then with more conviction as she intertwined their fingers. The distance between them was nothing more than an arm’s length, but neither could find the courage to move closer.

    3. Loved it. Hope to see you posting more TiBette. It was sweet, had two sex scenes, and left it off with the promise of some adorable family time. All around it was a great first effort to read.

    5. Great story (hopefully the beginning), there was so much packed in…the passion and HOT steamy sex…the laughter with Alice being trapped outside the bathroom…the drama of Jodie…and the sweet promise of Kennard-Porter family time. I hope there will be more.
