    The mystery below…..the Halloween Challenge

“The ‘soup’ chef,” Shane smiled smugly at Dana and winked holding up her fresh drink and then downed the shot with a smile.  “I had a can of Campbell’s soup if Dana needed a hint.”

“I never did get an answer on why ya’ll are dressed like each other?”

“It was part of the invitation,” Alice said as she leaned back in her chair.  “A party within a party for us; a costume party that would show us how the others truly sees us.”

“Girl,” Kit sat down and leaned back in the chair, folding her arms over her chest.  “I didn’t dress up as one of you; I’m Foxy Brown!”

    “Who?”

“Foxy Brown?”  Kit smiled with pride.  “Don’t I look just like her?”

Kit’s jaw dropped in amazement as her circle of friends seemed divided between not knowing Foxy Brown and thinking that she looked nothing like her.

“Has anyone ever seen the damn movie?”

“I have,” Tina offered sympathetically.  “It was one of the ground breaking films we had to review in film school in North Carolina.”

    “Why was it ground-breaking?”

“A historic film showcasing a strong, African-American female character,” Tina answered.

“Historic?”  Kit’s voice was at an alarming octave.  “I saw that freakin’ movie on opening night.  I’m beginning to hate ya’ll and think I should have stayed home with Bette!”

Kit rose from the table to handle part of the counter and ensure that business was continuing nicely despite Alice’s stupid costume idea.  The empty seat didn’t stay empty for long, a tall, thin figure immediately sat down without an invitation silently staring at Tina and Helena.

The figure was dressed in a perfectly mysterious costume.  The black pants were simple in nature, as were the boots, which were low and black leather.  The white shirt clinging to the figure’s form had a high collar, covered by a paisley vest and a wide, black tie.  The figure had a hooded cape, and made use of the hood as it sheltered the figure’s head completely.  White gloves covered the figure’s hands.  The only part of the figure’s face anyone could see was the white mask, clearly identifying the costume as The Phantom of the Opera.

    1. I am happy to see any story posted by you. It has been so long and I truly loved reading you stories so so long ago, just kidding, but in all truth you are so missed on this site. Oh yeah to the point of the current story this was brillant I loved how Kit was upset that no one knew Foxy Brown. And the girls thinking that Tina was stepping out on Bette was to hilarious, especially Alice, and he commment that T was cheating on her too. I had a strong supsicion that it was Bette when she kissed Tina’s hand as well, and then it was confirmed when she asked her to dance. So cleverly written though. But just one question since everyone was at the party, who was watching our sweet little angel Angie?

    2. Great to have you back, Gumby. I suspected it was Bette when she was “staring” at Tina and helena, only Bette would do that, since she is still uncomfortable with helena’s presence anywhere near Tina. Aalso when she kissed her hand and definitely when she asked her to dance to her favorite song. Great story. Thanks.

    3. As only Gumby can..^ ^ rotfl!!!”What the fuck!” Tina and Bette couldn’t help but smile hearing Alice all the way from their table over the slow beat of the music. “She’s married to Porter!” Alice looked down at her outfit and then became even more incensed. “Damn it I’m Porter tonight! She’s even cheating on me!” Glad to read again one of your story. thanks a lot!
