    the Mutant: Chapter Eight Pt. 1 {the L word/X-Men crossover}

    “DANA!” Jean shot up from her bed, and Logan sat up in the chair. He looked over and saw Jean screaming out Dana’s name. He walked over to the bed and cupped her face.

    “Jean—look at me!” Jean grabbed a hold of Logan’s arms and looked at him. She closed her eyes and began to cry.  He wrapped his arms around her, and she cried in his chest.

    “Where is she? Is she okay?” Jean lifted her head and looked up at Logan. Logan pushed Jean’s hair out of her face and caressed her cheeks.

    “You’re okay—you’re safe.” He smiled at her softly.

    “Logan where is Dana?”

    “I don’t know where she is—all that matters is that you’re alive, and you’re back at home.”

    “But Dana is still out there. She’s in danger. I can feel it.” Logan felt his blood boil, and he got up from the bed. He ran his hand over his hair.

    “Why are you worried about someone who tried to kill you?”

    “Dana didn’t try to kill me.” Jean shook her head. “I found her lying on the floor of the motel, and that was the last thing I remember. She was attacked by Shane and Pyro.” She looked at Logan. “Wait—they drug her out of the room, and Shane set the room on fire.” She gasped, and she closed her eyes. “Magneto’s going to use Dana and destroy New York City.”

    “How do you know this?” She looked at Logan.  “Sorry—that was a dumb question.”

    “We have to tell the Professor about this.”  She got up from the bed, but Logan grabbed her shoulders.

    “I think that you should stay in bed and just rest.”

    “No—I can’t abandon her. I told her that I would help her, and I’m not going to let her down.”

    “I don’t want you to go out there, and you’re not in the right state of mind. I want you to rest. Storm and I will take care of it. We’ll rescue her—I promise.” She looked at him and sighed.

    “Promise me you won’t do anything stupid.” Logan hesitated. “Logan.”

    “I promise—,” he looked at her and smiled. “Now just get some sleep—we’ll take care of it.” Jean lay back down in the bed, and Logan walked towards the door. He opened the door and looked back at Jean. He smiled slyly and walked out of the room.
