Chapter 253
Narration of First Lady Tina Kennard Porter
Between us Peggy and I make a pretty effective team. it’s a long few hours – we both make speeches – Peggy says some very good things and gets to make some political points that I agree with but obviously I am not allowed to say. Parts of my speech that was written last week is making reference to Bette – so I utter compliments that I don’t feel . That done there are more speeches and then we have lunch and meet people and do some glad handing.
The second event is a special centre that was funded by the Peabody-Porter foundation – that’s a real joy and it cheers me up to see some very amazing children who have serious problems but are so happy and joyful. The whole experience leaves me humble and so grateful that Ella is so fit and happy. We both stay at the centre longer than we should but we are both having a great time and I talk to all the children – they all want to know about Ella – so do their parents. I ask them about their children and get a lot of stories of how the educational system has failed so many of the kids. We talk and I come away with more and more ideas for the Foundation. Its after 9pm before we finish our final event and are back on the jet heading to Washington.
Peggy’s chef is amazing and we are soon dining together and sharing a very good bottle of wine. She smiles at me
“There were times today when I see that you could become a very good President – you have mass appeal “
“I don’t think that far ahead – Bette and Ella come first “
“Maybe she needs reminding how lucky she is to have you “
“At the moment she doesn’t see it “
“At the moment her head is up her ass “
I laugh as I reach for more potatoes – I am really hungry

this story without a doubt still remains to be my favourite! strangely a part of me loves it when they argue and bettes bull headedness comes out but i’m so glad that the tina you write is no walk over! thanks for another great chapter ally pps!
Uh-oh, me thinks she just said absolutely the wrong thing. POTUS is in for a tongue lashing.
AllyE, one thing about the show before I comment on the story. The show should have been stopped with the end of S5, at least it would have looked as though “our girls” would have been together and very happy to be back together. The episode of this past Sunday never should have been written never mind being put on tape for the world to see. I try not to voice my opinion on the work of IC but gloves off now, the woman seems to have lost any marbles she ever had. I realize alll this is leading up to Jenny’s offing but seriously, who cares. Enough of that. This chapter of the story really showed how much a butt hole Bette is being to Tina and everyone else. Maybe the research on her mother has just been too much for her but she needs to stop taking it out on Tina, who on the whole, is being very tolerant and understanding of Bette’s moods and the things she says and does. However, I think this new revelation of Bette wanting to not take Tina to Dublin is the straw that will break the camel’s back. I think if Tina reacts at all to this, she just might opt for her and Ella to go to her parent’s house while Bette is gone to Ireland. Bette really does need to extricate her head from her butt. Can’t imagine what she is thinking and to not have gone to see Ella at least once while Tina was gone was a really bad idea. then she admitted it to Tina and said she was working and couldn’t find the time. I’m very surprised that Tina did not just walk out of the oval when she said that, I was actually waiting for her to do so. In your authors’ notes, the rhyme said she was pushed into the pool. Well, Tina should take Bette out for a walk and push her butt into the pool. I know that she can not do that to the President with Secret Service watching but damn it’d be tempting. Thanks for another great chapter, AllyE. Post when you can.

Ok–Bette is even ticking me off! The problem is I see it, is she’s jealous of Tina’s popularity right now. Instead of being proud of her wife, she’s acting like a spoiled brat!!! PPS
Oddly, I am not annoyed with Bette. I think there is a lot going on in her life, and Tina has to be as understanding of Bette and Bette has been in the past of Tina. Bette is still very very raw from the idea that people have been hiding things from her that she is jumping at shadows… and distancing herself from those she loves most in order to prevent it. I do hope that Tina realises this and tries to organise a weekend away for the 3 of them to be together. I think they could benefit from it.
I agree with Deean. Earlier in the story, Bette was the one being understanding and caring for Tina who sometimes acted like a b***tch. Don’t approve of Bette’s current behavior, but I think I can understand it given everything she’s going through. Anyway, she’s now talking to Tina, and acknowledging what she did wrong. so there’s hope, uh? Hope to read more very soon :)

oh boy… just when i thought bette couldn’t do anything worse! love how hard tina is trying to be supportive without giving in too much. can’t wait for the next chapter and tina’s reaction to the dublin trip!
Hey AllyE, MAny thank yous for another fabulous chapter. I loved Peggy’s comment “At the moment her head is up her ass.” Just so Peabody. It was interesting to have Tina and Peggy sharte a moment. I do think Peggy has nailed a few issues and given Tina some food for thought. Tina’s return hoome and seeking Bette out with Ella was so precious. That little girl really can quench all of her mommies arguments. Good to have Bette admit her part in this one and be able to try to sort things out. Bette and Tina are best when they are talking things through. They can do anything they want as long as they continue to communicate and listen to those, who care from them, around them. Can’t wait to find out how Tee reacts to this revelation. Fingers crossed they can work it through. More please of this wonderful writing. From Your Loyal Fan.
