Chapter 238
Narration of First Lady Tina Kennard-Porter
“No – this is something akin to Bette type dynamite – and I am worried that it might explode and devastate a lot of people – most especially Bette “
“You have found her mother ?”
I find the page and turn it to Melvin
“Is that your wife Melvin ? “

Melvin looks at me for a few seconds
“You really think this is her ?”
“When I first saw this I was convinced – I think I might have talked myself out of it since. I just don’t know. I really don’t want to upset you Melvin but I think that I know you well enough to know that you would like to know the truth “
“I would “
He still hasn’t looked at the computer screen – I can understand that – what he sees there will have huge implications for him and his family.
“If it is her what odds do you give me that Bette will not believe that I didn’t know about it ?”
“Its hard to say – you know that I believe you “
“If you didn’t believe me would you let me see Ella ?”
“Of course – I want to what is right for all of you “
He looks down at the screen and reads the article but I see his eyes drawn to the photograph.
“What do you think Tina – do you think its her ?”
“I never met her Melvin – I have just seen photographs of her “
He looks at me
“But you are married to her daughter “
“You were married to her “
He looks at the photograph
“I don’t know – she looks very much like her “
“I am trying to dig out details about her – see if I can get her records. The last thing I want is to tell Bette and get her hopes up “
“But she is dead “
“Yes – but do you think that would stop Bette digging ?”
“Probably not – can you send this to me and I can look at it at home ?”
“Of course “
“Are you planning to tell her ?”

Happy Birthday to you AllyE. You’re a Scorpio, so am I. No wonder you can write such romantic stuff when you’ve a mind to. This was a great chapter and has Tina gone from the frying pan to the fire over Bette’s mother? Wonder just how much info Bette knows about Tina’s research. Certainly hope Bette does not blame Tina for the research or for not telling her about it. Bette can get on her high horse at times. Tina loves her very much and is trying to find a way to lessen the pain for her. PPS or post when you can.

yeah, good question from Bette to Tina and T shouldn’t be telling B how to feel. She didn’t live thru B’s experience. Besides which T is lying by omission; omission or commission: imo, never trust a liar. Nice afternoon they had but T don’t lecture Bette especially when ur keeping something from her. Still a great story.
