The L Wing – chapter 233
THE L WING
Chapter 233
Narration of President Bette Kennard-Porter
I have been awake most of the night just lying in the dark talking to Tina about the possibilities and theories that explain what the hell has happened to Shane. She finally accepts that this is something that I have to do on my own and she has her own things to do. She will probably invite my dad over so he can see Ella. It is important that Ella has a relationship with her grandfather even if I doubt I can be in the same room as him. Maybe over Christmas things will thaw for me and I will want to talk to him. The bottom line – the one that Tina keeps reminding me of is that even though I feel utterly let down – he is my father and I do idolise him.
We get up at 6am and she cooks me breakfast and we chat until the helicopter arrives for me. It will get me to Washington in the quickest possible time and as soon as it lands I need to be ready for what is facing me in the West Wing. I hug Tina and she says that if I say that I need her she and Ella will be up in Washington for me.
The problem is going to be my ankle – the swelling is going down but its still painful and I really do not want to be whacked out on painkillers when I am making tough decisions and possibly having a confrontation with someone I love as much as Shane.
The journey up to Washington gives me time to gather my thoughts – I know that I am up to handling this situation because if things get tight – I am the President and I can pretty much do whatever I want. My word is law even if that word has been sidelined for the past few weeks. The fact that Tina noticed that before me is something that I am seething about -not that Tina figured it out – she is smart and a great political operator – but the fact that I was played and never saw it happening to me. Well that stops here and now – and how Shane reacts will dictate whether she has a job by the end of the day or not.

Wowza, lots of drama. Poor Shane. Can’t wait to see what happens next!
And the Drama Queen is back!! Go Ally, go Ally….can’t wait to see how Tina will react to the news that Carmen left Shane three weeks earlier….
poor shane.
5 hours with a therapist??? Maybe Shane is being brainwashed and is cooperating in what she thinks is helping/protecting the Prez…or is that too Sci Fi?hope all ends well with Shane and Bette
wow carmen never told tina she left shane??? WTF is going on,lol more drama go for it ally! :)PPS
This never happened before, but reading the last line literally made me gasp for breath. Wow. PPS
Oh WOW!!! The drama queen is doing her thing. WTF is going on? Carmen did not tell Tina that she had left Shane. WHY NOT?, and she had every opportunity to tell her when they talked. Oh my goodness. Is Shane doing drugs? She would almost have to be to make Carmen leave her. Now I can hardly wait to see what happens next. Great post AllyE.PPS
oh my that is so sad…poor shane…
wow that was a surprise. Why Carmen left Shane and didn’t say anything?? thats too weird…something Shane is not telling there..poor Shane. I hope Bette sees that Shane can’t leave there alone..she should call the therapist that helped Tina and maybe convince Shane that she needs treatment and not work. And if I was Carmen I would track her down and have a serious talk..at this point maybe she is the only who knows better what is going on. Great story..amazing writing! Thanks.
Damn, maybe Shane really DOES have head worms! If it weren’t for the therapist, I would have been ready to blame the $cientologists, but maybe it’s just as simple a crystal meth addiction. I can’t blame Carmen for getting the kid away from Shane, but to just ditch her was shitty. (If that’s how it really happened-I’m not sure Shane’s version of anything is accurate right now.)
Great chapter. Really exciting and intriguing.
I have really been enjoying this story from the very start. This latest plot twist with Shane kind of reminds me of “The Manchurian Candidate”. Maybe Shane was brainwashed while she was kidnapped to sabotage the presidency??? Hence the repetition of the “I was trying to protect you” line. Very interesting. Can’t wait til the next chapter.Great story!!!!
I hope Shane let’s Bette help her – you write so damn well – this chapter was so beautifully and tightly crafted – WOW WOW WOW is what my mind is saying.
Whoa, I am VERY concerned for Shane if she is alone and not properly dealing with her emotional problems. I hope that Bette does her best to help her and not let her leave alone. Maybe Carmen left because Shane would not get help or Shane made her leave. I understand if Carmen deamed this to personal to Tina like they have not talked to anyone about Bette’s issues with Kit and Melvin. GREAT work Ally, PPS :o).
Hey AllyE, Great couple of chapter, I have just caught up with. Good to have Bette doing the tough job of sorting things out wiht Shane. It is one of the hardest things that Bette will evger do but she has to protect her staff, family and people from Shane’s reckless behavior. Tle last line said it all. Shane is like a rudderless ship without a compass. She is just causing havoc wherever she goes. Between Bette and a good therapist Shane can find here way back to a safe habor and those she loves and adores. Her heart is missing. Cna’t wait to read more. As always entertaining and exciting storytelling. Thank you so much, Your Loyal Fan.
Whoa! Drama-rama at its best is back at the West Wing. Thank you for a crackling chapter, Ally! :>
shit, that was a doozie u dropped on us at the end!!!!! pps
Wow that was great Ally, I hope that Shane will take all the help she can get. I love this story so very much and I can’t wait to read what you have in store for us next. Have a wonderful day dear.
oh noo shane need help now, this is bad!
