    The L Wing – Chapter 205

    THE L WING – Chapter 205

Narration of First Lady Tina Kennard-Porter

Ella is 9 days old – 9 whole days – over 200 hours – 220 to be exact. I am pondering on this while I am feeding her. Bette has gone to start lunch and get me a bottle of juice from the fridge. Most of the time she hates to miss watching Ella feed. 9 days – I once went 9 days living on nothing but rice, tinned peaches and coffee – not the greatest diet in the world but I survived and emerged with a great story. Mind you I was only 26 at the time and could eat anything without worrying about the consequences. Was that only a decade ago? I regret not keeping a fuller diary – it would be interesting to see exactly what I was doing ten years ago.

I do know that I used to dream about living in a house with a white fence and having a wife and a family and pets and being settled and safe. There was nothing safe about spending so many years of my life in war-zones.

Only now can I come close to imagining what my parents must have thought and felt when I was so far away and they would watch the news night after night hoping for some word from me – some clue that I was still alive. I once dropped out of touch for three weeks and emerged to find that I had been posted as “ missing “ – God the thought of what that must have done to my mom and dad. What the hell will it do to us if Ella has inherited my personality – my need to dig and to find out for myself and tell people the truth from these hell holes? I know that I would be worried sick – I also hope that I would understand. I know it is crazy but I do think about what she will become – one thing that she is already is spoilt – everyone who meets her just falls in love with her.

Personality wise – if these things can be assessed at 9 days – personality wise – Ella is her other mother’s daughter. She is very calm – we have had some huge screaming fits from her but for the most part my mom and Kit and Peggy have all said that she is a very serene child.

    1. Just love Lucy like you always have and dont forget she loves you also. That is all that Tina can do Be as nice to Alice and hope they have a long life together.

    2. Great one AllyE. It’s great that T is willing to give them a chance to be whatever it is that they want to be. Personally, I think one or maybe both of them will tire of the other and I think that will be Lucy first to tire of Alice once the novelty has grown off.Right now Alcie is forbidden fruit and its yar to be against the family and everyone else that thinks they don’t belong together. And to show Jody that she could actually pull this off. When Tina asked her if she loved Alice she really did not answer the question directly,”she said we love each other.” That really did not answer the question that Tina asked. Lucy desperately does not want to be proven wrong in this affair. She will carry on this charade for a while longer but the fascination will wear off. I could be wrong. PPS

    3. Hey Ally, that was a subtle way to make us learn about the term “love-rat”. Thanks. Tina’s support for her little sis is endearing. We usually do that with the ones we care deeply. Bette is fantastic as a mom. We are very intrigued, though, about Leigh’s whereabouts… Indeed a mistery. Hs and Ks for u & Cheryl – Lucero & Marsha

    4. Amazing Ally…you are. You take me into each of their lives and make me want the best for each of them. How do you do that? I loved the Harry Potter references in this chapter too! You know you’re amazing, right? 70,000 words vs. 77,000 words…WOW! I haven’t been counting, just reading; and now I know why I’m jonesin’ for more. I hope Cheryl is feeling better soon! X & O’s to you both!

    5. Hello AllyE, Thank you for another wonderul post. It is just awesome to see Bette and Tina as new parents. Amazing to have Bette a the calm mom while Tina panics about everything. Ella is just the business. Love the James Hewitt explanation for the yanks. Hee-hee-hee. He is just so unattractive. And then sweet to see Tina and Bette supportung Lucy. She has been through the ringer lately but ALice seems to be a supporting influence in her life so maybe they cna overcome everyone’s disbelief and prove their love for each other is real and forever. Only time will tell. Thank you for making and keeping this tall tale addictive and enteraining. It is a joy and pleasure to read every new post. Many. many thanks from Your Loyal Fan.
