THE L WING – Chapter 183
Narration of First Lady Tina Kennard-Porter
The applause is spontaneous and full of affection for her. Bette steps forward and embraces her – I know that they speak almost every day but this appearance is as unexpected as it is welcoming. Bette just loves Shane to pieces – hell we all do.
“Did you know about this? “ Alice asks rubbing a tear from her eye
“No I swear I didn’t but its fantastic – the last time I went to see her it looked like she was walking better but she was pretty anxious and tense. Though that might have been because every time Carmen’s mom came into the room it was with more food. I couldn’t eat for 12 hours after I’d been fed by Carmen’s mom so God knows how Shane was coping when I have seen her last the whole day on coffee and Danish pastries “
“When I met them Shane existed on toast and cereal – she’d have a beer and cornflakes sometimes “
“That sounds nice actually “Alice is about to accuse me of being sarcastic but I stop her by adding
“I am at the weird craving phase Alice – the other night I was down in the White House
kitchens at 2am looking for anchovies “
“Did you find them ? “
“Yes and they go very well with blueberries and stale doughnuts “
“Bette allows you to eat stale doughnuts ? “
“Bette lets me eat anything that satisfies my cravings within reason and even she couldn’t come up with a book that said that stale doughnuts were bad for me”
“Strange “ Alice shakes her head “And even odder that Bette allows you. The last conversation
I had with her when she was discussing motherhood she said you were going to eat the best of everything and nothing would be too good for you “
“Ah – that was before the week when the only thing I could keep down was hotdogs – cold
hotdogs “
“Ugh “
“Alice – I assure you that my cravings are perfectly normal – if you really want far out urges you

Way to leave us hanging ally I didn’t even see it comming. Well I know you will put us out of our misery when you get a chance and and I see my favorite of the three AYNIL is next so I wont beg to much but please let it be soon.
ally…you are very creative and imaginative to keep this story coherent yet fresh every chapter.
3lbs and 3 ozs is not so bad. I guess all the stress was too much for Carmen and the baby. Poor Shane..one more thing to worry about.
So I’m reading along loving the dialogue and all the time thinking this is “ally’ we are talking about when is some drama going to hit the fan…and then it did. You are the queen!
Great one AllyE. Happy that Shane is up and around and the baby only 3.3. With Carmen as big as a house, looks like we may have problems there. Hope it is not toxczemia.(sp)?. But that would explain the low weight and Carmen’s size. Hope everything is ok with Carmen, they don’t need those kind of problems right now. PPS.

was so enjoying the chapter at first then the anvil. but 6 weeks. i like her chances also. my daughter has about a week to go. it will be my 3rd grandchild. cool. thanks.
a/e–A friend of mine had her first grandchild–a definite preemie, weighing in at just under 2 pounds at birth!! He is a real fighter and he is doing remarkably well. Thank you for continuing this story–this story concept has always been brilliant.

Gee, Ally, that wasn’t very nice of you dropping all that extra stress on Shane and Carmen (not to mention Bette & Tina and all of us.) But 6 weeks early? I like the kids chances.
wow 3lb 3ozs, i thought the doc said she was fine. would they have picked up that she was under weight during the ultrasound. guess she was gonna be small anyway. maybe she would have picked up another 2 or 3 in those six weeks. i wonder if carmen’s mom was obsessing about her eating as much as she was shane
great chapter, Bette is so lucky to have Tina beside her. Carmen and Shane’s baby is in the hospital i hope that everything will be ok for the little one.
Brilliant chapter, as always. Fantastic how you keep this story in top form… so intriguing, yet sweet and loving at the same time. Looking forward to the updates of the other two!!

Hey Ally, Good to see the comings and goings of the White House. I just love these intimate moments between all the characters. The dialogue just rolls along. Am in shock at your latest cliffhanger. I do hope that all is weel with Carmen and the baby. This will be a further shock for Shane and potentially for Tina. Bette needs to play this one out carefully. Brilliant as always, Your Loyal Fan.
Seems like the new team is good. But I hope that at the same time Bette is giving time to Shane for her recovery, she’s not let CJ to replace her completely. Shane is very intelligent, wise and thoughtful to me and I think she deserves even better than being a Chief of Staff (VP?)I like you write Joyce as one of the senior staff, I like this character. Great job and look forward to your next update!
