The L Edition: Working 9 to 5 plus the Overtime

I busied myself in work as Helena had yet to be in touch, but I just couldn’t bring myself to ring her either. Here I was paperwork up to eyeballs and yet even that couldn’t distract me from her. You know what hurt me the most is that I felt like I failed before I even started a new relationship, I always had a way of fucking up a good thing for myself. And as I though Helena didn’t care how id been feeling otherwise she would have called me right?

What’s with she wants to date me but not be my girlfriend? Am I supposed to believe that’s what people our age do and for her to promise me she won’t see anybody but me? Well I find this completely preposterous that these left her divine luscious red lips. ‘Stop it, you’ve got to be stronger than this’.

    ***********

Hi this is Helena Peabody, is Bette Porter around at all?

Hello no she’s out on a business this afternoon. May I leave a message for you Miss Peabody?

Erm no it’s fine. I’m sure I will get hold of her at another time more convient

    Ok thanks for calling bye

    Bye

With that the phone call was disconnected. Helena slumped back into the office chair. As she ruffled all her paperwork in front of her, she couldn’t help but feel upset that Bette wasn’t in the office. Although in her mind she knew that Bette wouldn’t just be there waiting around for her to call. Work had come first but without Bette it felt like it was a never ending story. she always looked forward to what a new day would bring but this past week it had been a blur and more chaotic than usual.

She replayed over and over again the words she uttered to Bette the last night they had spent together. ‘. I want to try this casual thing that we have now. I’m not dating anyone else but you and I can promise you one thing is that I wont. But I can’t be official im sorry’. How could she push the one good thing in her life away? As minutes turned into the hours’ Helena had not realised the numbers of people in the office disappearing, she was left there alone. It was then she realised her dreams maybe her hunger in life but without Bette there beside her it would not be complete. She quickly gathered her belongings and dug out her car keys. Started the ignition and flew across town in record amount of time. Her heart thumped erratically in her ribcage as her palms began to become sweaty at the thought of what she was doing was completely out of her character.

But this was it now or never, time to make a change and make everyday like the sunrise right there beside her. Bette could be the one and she would let her go and never be completely happy.

As Helena pulled up at Bette’s place she wasn’t sure if she would be able to find the words to win Bette over but she knew eventually they would come. Her heart would be true enough to get her through that painstakingly awkward moment.

Helena tapped heavily on the door of Bette’s apartment, as Alice opened the door to a slightly worse for wear Helena. She thought someone had died because Helena acted out of the blue like she had never seen her act before. It was as if she had seen a ghost she was that pale out of revelation.

Hi Alice, look I need to talk to Bette it’s really important

Has someone died Helena? Bette’s in her room you cant talk to her life this you are distressed.

Al, sorry I just…it’s urgent as she yelled for Bette.

Bette came out of her room surprised to her Helena’s voice screaming through the walls of their apartment.

Are you okay Helena has someone died?

NO Bette, she spoke irrationally as she dropped onto her knees. At this point Dana had stepped out of the bedroom to see what all the commotion was about. She could tell it was Helena she was the only British woman they knew in LA.

Look I’m so sorry about what I said to you. I have so much going on in my life right now. I tried to call you today at your work. I wanted to tell you im sorry and I wish I would have said yes, YES I would love to be your girlfriend. Please forgive me and have me as you partner Bette, I can’t survive one more endless day without you there. You’re so beautiful…I don’t know what else to sa

Bette swooned in with tears strolling down her face and before Helena could continue interrupted with a wet kiss. It was passionate and complete; there it was the static electricity. Bette had been upset and was on the brink of being mad but some how this had been the most romantic gesture she had ever endured. No one had ever fought for her, and this was a pivotal moment to last forever in her heart.

Every inch of pain they had endured was gone; blow away by prospect of love, happiness and togetherness. Nothing could beat love and the highs it brought to the people that shared it. Helena was like a fairy floating metres above the sky line. Looking down upon her self and sharing the same beautiful scene which was just as beautiful from that view too. Helena smiled hard as she gulped to try and let the tears fade away from plain slight view of Bette. It was the 2nd time she felt nervous tonight but for an entirely different reason, she felt shy. At the fact that Bette had seen her shed tears, normally she would hide behind her true emotions but at this reunion it was hard to weld back the tears burying up behind her tear duct.

Dana and Alice both stood there shocked at the new turn of events they had just been witnesses to. They both watched as the two women on the floor never looked happier with tear soaked face, and tangled hair. They both looked at each other and shared a deep and meaningful kiss. To confirm their deep everlasting love they shared with one another over the many years they had come to know each other in side out.

    1. I guess Helena isn’t like me after all Caramel because I would never let anyone in my heart to begin with…..but hey, the update was great. Keep up the great work.

    2. Nice short update, babe. Urms. I don’t mean to be critical. Smiles. Really. I only say this because I hope I can help you, the same way I hope you help me. ((: But you might want to try adding in some punctuation in your stories, like open-and-closed inverted commas and stuff. It would help differentiate the ‘conversations’ from what you’re writing to describe a scene. You know I only say this because I care. My stories are definitely far from perfect, and I’m always open to critic. (: I guess we all are in some way when we post our work on this site. ((: But how else would we learn, right? Grin. I’m definitely looking forward to your new story, Caramel. (: It is very very exciting. ((: PPS! ((: And I’m glad you’re feeling better! ((: It was so nice to see you posted. (: xoxo
