    The Journey 11

    Chapter 11

Today is my day, I am reclaiming my life. The very first thing I do is pack up everything that that reminds me of Tina. I remove all the photos of Tina and myself. I am not angry, it just is this way. I put away all the gifts Tina gave me over the years, they are meaningless to me now. I roll up all of my drawings and pack my paintings away without hesitation. I stop only at the one that reminds me of the train trip I took from Finland to St Petersburg. It was early in my travels and I’d drunk too much vodka the night before and woke with a woman whose name I now cannot remember. It was their summer and it was light until two am, it gave me a false sense of security about the amount of alcohol I was drinking, perhaps because it did not seem late. Finland was green and alive with people but I could imagine the bitterly cold and dark winters. I went to concerts and had fine salmon and cheese. I smiled at the funny things one remembers. I boarded the train to Russia, tired and hung over. It was a longish trip, I don’t remember how long but I remember the train, so slow and old, or was it that I was not in the best shape after the night before. I sat against the window with my portable cd player on and my back pack next to me. I let the tears run down my face at the sadness in my life, being tired always made more emotional than usual. I could see the Russian countryside was poor but beautiful also. I handed my passport to a man in a uniform who tried to pronounce my name. We bantered a bit, I tried to pronounce his name and he keep trying to pronounce mine. A young Indian woman traveling on her own sat opposite me, perhaps we felt safe in this formation. She had kahlua and I had vodka, when we ran out of pepsi we drank the vodka and kahlua together and straight out of tacky plastic glasses. Looking at it now the inevitable happened in the uninspiring ladies toilet. A small room that looked as though it hadn’t been cleaned in a year. She initiated but I was always the more senior party in the transaction. She let me take her. I blush with embarrassment as I think how much younger she was than me. We traveled together for a few days and then went our separate ways. We had philosophical discussions about life without revealing to each other why we were traveling alone. I put that picture away. That was then, this is now. It takes me a better part of the day to pack up these things, as just as I start to feel satisfied the phone rings. It is the local Art Centre, they offer me a job. They have heard I was back in town. Not as high powered as CAC but I accept the position after a longish discussion. I am already known to the Board. I feel some excitement and life seep back into me, a challenge, I’m all for it. Some blood roaring through my veins. In a way the position is exactly what I was hoping for, challenging but still allowing me so time to do the things I need to do, like spend time with Laurel. That I am serious about, I do not want to jerk Tina or Laurel about in that regard. I will call Tina and make a time to see Laurel. I am hoping that I can see her at least one night a week and perhaps one day a weekend. I think to myself what a fabulous job Tina has done. I call Tina and get her answering machine.

    1. Oh what a mess. Both loves the other one. The only thing they have in common is the baby, Bette and Tina will see each other when Bette picks her up. thanks

    2. Wake up and smell the what??? I don’t blame Bette one bit. There is only so much being made a fool that someone can take. Tina time for YOU to take your woman back.

    3. So things get tough for Bette she sleeps with Candace, things go tough for Bette again, she picks up some twink in a bar, things go tough for Bette, she leaves town(in this story), things don’t go her way, she picks up another one night stand. I see a pattern with Ms. Porter and it’s not very flattering. Tina’s no saint, but did Bette expect her to stay single and pine away for her ass while she left doing god knows what in Europe?
The only thing IMO Tina owed Bette was to tell her she was pregnant; that’s where she messed up. Bette’s acting like a petulant child. I’m glad it put her in her place.

    4. I readily admit I love Bette and only like Tina as she is part of Bette’s world. However, look at what Bette lived with. Tina telling her to GTH for 6 months, not even willing to talk to her, even though she loved seeing Bette beg. She was pregnant with their child and never told Bette. Bette arrives at her home and sees another woman and the baby. The two times she’s seen Tina out she’s been with Sam, looks like a relationship to me. And withholding the pregnancey info wss and is low. If Tina was really regretful on that one she would have stayed or woke Bette up when she found her asleep in the guest room. Bette left after she had no reason to stay. Tina offered no hope, only pain as she flaunted Helena in her face. The friends sided with Tina and Kit would be her sister, near or far so it didn’t matter there either. I don’t fault Bette for leaving.

    5. You’d think that Bette was the second coming the way people talk about her. How dare Tina try to move on with her life after Bette cheated on her and left town. I don’t care that Bette left, it just bothers me that she gets all piss and vinegar when she sees Tina with Sam. IF she(sam) is Tina’s girlfriend then so be it. All Bette needs to worry about is Laurel. I don’t care how “hot” Bette is, she needs to grow up. Something tells me that if Bette were being played by Kathy Bates, people’s response would have been a hell of a lot different in season2. Why should Tina have offered hope? She didn’t owe that to her, the only thing she owed her was to tell her about the pregnancy.

    6. I guess having so much hurt between them, and unresolved emotions, they are bound to jump to their own conclusions, without taking the time to find out for sure, what’s what?!!! Hope they finally get the time to sit down, and work thru their insecurities and eventually tell each other what’s really in their hearts. Loving this. Please continue.

    7. well done Kit..Bette need to wake up and look the signs.. what she expected? Tina sigle waiting for her? for how long???..but now they have to talk and be honest to each other… love is still there..hope Bette go after Tina and say sorry..great chapter post soon thanks

    8. i loooooove this story !!!! lol please post soon amazing chapter looove this and im got hoipe for tina and bette now yay! lol i really hope bette can forgive herself enough and tina enough to atleast talk and work sometrhings out!! well amazing as always please post soon thanx byneess<3390873458934

    9. Its says NOTHING!!

Tina ONLY rushed over there because she realized that while she was in the shower, Bette had seen Laurel. I’m sorry, but right now, Kit and anyone else saying that Bette needs to “wake up” doesnt know what they’re talking about. Tina did NOT run to Bette out of love, she went cause she was BUSTED!

      Chapter 4:

Bette: “really thanks, I’ll catch Tina another time. Bette reached out to pick up the little girl who hadn’t taken her eyes off Bette. “What a beautiful daughter you have.”
Sam: “Thank you, she is beautiful , but she is Tina’s daughter.”

      Chapter 5:

Sam: “Tina, listen, a Bette Porter was here, said she was a friend of your, said she had something for you but decided not to wait or leave it. Do you know a Bette Porter ?”
Tina: Dumbfounded “Bette was here, now ?” trying to piece it together. Sam nods to confirm it. I look at Laurel and pick her up. “Sam I am sorry but there is something I have to take care of right now”
Sam: “Tina is everything OK ?”
Tina: “Yeah, no, really no, I need to take care of this, I’m sorry is that OK” Panic sets in. Bette is no fool, she would have seen it right away. I pick up my cell but it begins to ring, Kit calling.
