One week had gone by and Jayden had been juggling her shifts at the rehab clinic and taking care of Sam.  Hectic, it wasn’t only a word it was her mantra of the week.

She pulled into her driveway the home she shared with Lara and stepped out of the Honda.  She rubbed her weary eyes as she trudged up to the apartment.  Jayden saw Lara’s car packed in back of the complex, she must have done the groceries, thought Jayden. She only parked down there when she needed to take the elevator.

She got to the door juggling the keys and fumbling them and dropping them to the floor and she saw the door swing open.  Revealing Lara in a pair of shorts and a tank top that was really an old shirt that she’d yanked the sleeves from and sliced the lower half of the shirt off.  Hello!  Thought Jayden.

“Hello dear.”  Lara said picking up the keys and handing them to the standing Jayden.

“Hi yourself.  Why are you home this early?”  Jayden asked not really minding at all.  She saw that the table was set for two; candles and fresh flowers.

“I thought that after your hellish week I’d take the day off, clean, do laundry and of course cook you a meal.  I have some duck in the oven and you get to choose the wine.”  Lara announced heading back to the kitchen.  Her red hair pulled away from her face in a loose pony tail revealing the nape of her neck.  Jayden steadied herself went to look for some wine.  “How was your day?”  Asked Lara as she made a salad watching Jayden look for the wine, thinking she looked distant.  Or at the very least had something on her mind.

“Ok.  Dana got her results back today.”  Jayden said, hoping she wasn’t breaking a confidence by telling Lara.

“Is she going to be ok?”  Jayden nodded with a shrug of her shoulders.

“She has to ease up on the work out.  There is a nerve being pinched, but they have surgery fix it.  Or make it worse she’s got a ***** of a decision to make.  I think she’ll go with the surgery.  She’s to intent on making a come back if someone told me I couldn’t be a nurse I’d freak.  I’d do anything I could to get back to doing what I love.”  Jayden placed the wine on the table and kissed Lara.  “I’m going to go change.”  Lara nodded and watched her go.  She wiped her lip and sighed, god she wanted her.  Lara knew she was head over heels in love with her.  The straight girl, as they were all putting it.  She knew she was straight, but was a little off to the left, and they could work with that.  Well *****, Lara thought ruefully, she’s perfect.  She listened to her getting changed in the bedroom.  The night they’d slept in the same bed at Sam’s clung to her like a baby to its mother.  No *****, just cuddling and holding her it had been a giant step for Jayden, this Lara knew.  She was comfortable enough with her to kiss her in public and lay in bed naked, flesh to flesh.  It was a ***** of a start, at least Lara thought so.
