Chapter 94

The gang positioned themselves around Tina’s hospital bed. They all stared at Tina in awe.

“What?” Tina smiled at the crowd of friends looking at her.

“Amazing Tina….absolutely amazing….the babies are beautiful!” Tim was the first to speak. It seemed that suddenly noone else had anything to say – that they’d forgotten how to speak. “You doing ok Tina? You look great. Nice job!”

“Thanks Tim…” Tim gave Tina a kiss. He walked over to Bette and gave her a kiss too.

“You ok Bette? You look tired.”

“I’m fine – tired – but fine..thanks for asking Tim. The only casualty was my hand.” Bette showed everyone her battered and bruised hand.

“Ouch…that had to hurt. Tina did that to you?” Tim smiled at Tina and chuckled. “Well, I guess she couldn’t grab you by the balls – so she had to find something to grab!”

Alice spoke next. “So Tina – are you doing the breast feeding thing?”

“Yeah…yes I am…and NO you don’t get to watch!”

Alice looked at Bette and grinned an evil grin. “Gee yuppie – I bet that really bothers you doesn’t it? The babies get to have Tina whenever they want! So – how does it feel to be a second class citizen? How are you going to make sure you get your BOOB time?”

Tina looked at Alice and shook her head. “Alice – did I or did I not warn you to leave Bette alone?”

“Yes you did – but now the babies are here and I figured she was fair game again.” Alice smiled at Tina.

Tina shook her head. “Oh brother! Don’t you ever stop?”

“Nope – never – not when it comes to the yuppie!”

Jenny chimed in. “So Tina – did it hurt?”

Tina looked at Jenny and said “Are you serious? Yes it hurt….but it’s over now. It was worth it!”

“Well – I don’t like pain. I’m not having any kids!” Jenny shook her head. “Nope – not me!”

Shane went and washed her hands. When she came back she asked, “Can I hold one of them?”

Bette looked at Shane. “Sure – do you have a preference?”

“No – either one will do….”

Bette handed Dylan to Shane. “This is Dylan….Dylan this is Shane.”

“Oh my God Bette – he looks just….”

“I know – he looks just like me….yeah…yeah…I know!”

“What a beautiful little boy. Hey Dylan…remember…I’m the fun one. Your aunt Alice sucks!”

Alice looked at Shane. “Nice Shane! Really nice!”

Shane gave Dylan back to Bette. “Can I hold Taylor now?”

Tina handed Taylor to Shane. “She’s so precious – pretty – just like her mommy….”

Tina smiled and blushed. Shane and that undying charm…had to love it!

Dana just stood there not knowing what to say. Tina noticed that she looked like she was caught in someones headlights. “Hey Dane…would you like to hold one of the babies?”

“Oh GOD NO…babies scare the ***** out of me! I make them cry….I’m not good with babies….GOD NO!”

“Jeez- ok …I’m not gong to make you hold them. But they are awfully CUTE!” Tina smiled broadly at Dana.

“Yeah Tina – they are really cute! I’ll give you that!” Dana moved a little closer to the babies. “They really are cute! All of that came out of you huh? OUCH! I’m with Jenny – no kids for me!”

Tina laughed. “One or both of you will change your mind. I’d bet on it! Bette’s even thinking about doing it!”

“T – thinking about it….thinking about it – that’s all…”

Alice began laughing. “Porter pregnant – now that would be funny!”

“Shut up hippie! What about you…do you ever want kids?” Bette couldn’t think of a stinging come back. She wondered if motherhood was making her lose her touch…..

“*****…I don’t know…I always saw Dana as the pregnant one….not me!”

Dana shot Alice a look. “Really – so you have me barefoot and pregnant huh? It was really nice discussing the topic with you Al…next time – please make sure I’m with you and awake when we talk about it – ok?”

Alice scanned the room. “Hey – we never had a baby shower for you guys. When you guys get settled in at home – we need to do that! You’ll let me know when you feel up to it – won’t you Tina….?”

“Sure – yeah – ok….”

Just then Taylor started to cry. Shane handed her over to Bette. “I don’t do crying babies….they make me nervous….”

Bette looked at all of her friends and laughed. “You guys are all ridiculous! These are just little people – how scarey can they possibly be? I’m not sure how to say this but…um…you can all leave now…Tina and I need some time alone with the babies.”

Alice looked at Bette and smiled. “Yeah – you want time with the babies….SURE!”

“You know Alice – life isn’t all about *****!” Bette tried to be convincing but feared that she failed miserably.

She did. “Oh please yuppie – life is all about *****….you two are all about *****…*****…*****…*****…*****…”

“Shut up Alice!” Bette was annoyed – genuinely annoyed. She knew – but wasn’t going to explain. … noone would understand – what she and Tina had was never about *****…never. It was all about the way they loved each other – and over the last year – those feelings had only deepened. Bette looked at Tina. Tina smiled at her – she knew exactly what Bette was thinking. Tina picked up on her annoyance with Alice. Tina knew as well that it was never about ‘just *****’ with them. She winked at Bette and then said. “Thanks for coming – now get going! Please!!”

The entire gang said their goodbyes and left.

Bette sat down in the bed and motioned for Tina sit with her. Tina was still holding Taylor. Tina sat between Bette’s legs – with Taylor in her arms.

“So T…you know I love you right?”

“Yeah Baby…I know….”

“And you know that when we make love I’m never thinking about just ***** – right?”

“Right – I know that…”

“You feel how much I love you – how in love with you I am …don’t you T?”

“Yes Bette…in every kiss…in every touch…in everything you do…everything you say…I feel it!”

Bette buried her face in Tina’s hair. “Good – that’s what I want you to feel – every time – all the time. Until the end of time…”

Tina leaned back into Bette. “Forever Baby…always…”
