Alice took a step back and stared at Dana. In her wildest dreams she never would have imagined that Dana would actually be admitting this to her. Dana looked up at her with pleading eyes but Alice didnt move. There were too many thoughts running through her head for her to even consider committing to Dana right now, but at least she knew that the feelings she had for her friend were mutual. Alice pulled Dana to her feet and looked her in the eye as she spoke softly.

Dana looked down and tried to figure out how to answer Alices question truthfully without hurting her. What Tonya had said was Finebut I hope youre happy with that little *****. I hope the two of you are miserable together. You deserve each other. There was no way Dana was going to tell Alice that but she knew Alice wouldnt let her get out of answering the question. She sighed and looked back at her friend.

She was mad Alice. She yelled at me and left. But thats not important. Youre whats important now.

She tried to smile at Alice but Dana felt like she was grimacing. Alice saw the hesitation in Danas face and she took a deep breath before answering.

DanaI know theres a lot going on right nowwith Shane and Bette and Tinaand now thiseveryones emotions are running out of wack. But are you sure this is what you want? Are you sure you dont want to be with Tonya?

Al Im right where I want to be.

Alice smiled at Danas response and she finally let out the breath she was holding. She took a step closer to Dana and leaned in slowly for what she considered their real first kiss.

Tina moaned softly as Bettes hands wandered under her shirt and up to her bra. Tina felt her body completely surrendering to Bettes familiar touch and she hated herself for it. But it seemed the more she fought it the more her carnal instincts took over and she immediately let one hand grip the back of Bettes head while the other made its way to Bettes pants. Bettes mouth was busy nibbling on all the sensitive spots on Tinas neck but when she felt Tinas hand reach her waistline she pulled away a little. Tina was surprised at Bettes decision to back off and she took this as her opportunity to turn the tables. She moved into Bette and turned them so that Bette was now the one up against the wall and once again Bette had that flashback to her and Candace in her office that fateful day. Bette wrestled with Tina for control and somehow they managed to end up on the ground with Bette straddling Tina. Tina looked up at Bette with a mix of hate, love, desire and disgust in her eyes and Bette thought she was going to vomit purely from this sight. She stopped what she was doing and stood up suddenly pulling Tina to her feet. As much as she wanted to make Tina understand how much she loved her, Bette knew that physical intimacy wasnt going to do it. She had to make a connection emotionally somehow, but she had no idea what to do and she was getting tired of trying. She was tired of second guessing Tina and she was tired of being used only to punished later. As ironic as it was, Bette needed Tina to be more open with her and stop shutting her out. Tina stood up slowly brushing herself off and watching Bette with a cautious eye. She looked at her for a long time before Bette finally spoke.

Tinahow did it come to this? How did we end up like this?

I can think of a few reasons Bette.

Tina looked at Bette long and hard before answering. For once Bette was asking the right questions and not assuming she had all the answers. Tina sighed and slowly reached out her hand to Bette who carefully took it holding it lightly incase Tina changed her mind. Tina rubbed Bettes hand softly as she began to speak.

BetteI dont know. I really dont. I could say it was because of Candacebut I think its more than that. I think it was before that. We had our problems but we never dealt with them.

So can we deal with them now?

Tina sighed as she looked away. She knew exactly what Bette was asking but the problem was she didnt know what her answer would be. For so long now Bette had been everything to her. Her rock. Her world. But that was all shattered in an instant and she didnt know what to do with the broken pieces. The life she once knew had been ripped from her hands and now she had a choice. She could either fight to mend what was broken or she could let it go forever. She had no idea what to do. Tina looked back at Bette with sad eyes and she saw the despair and hope in Bettes. Tina sighed softly again as she felt Bettes grip on her tighten. Tina looked into Bettes eyes and felt her heart drop at Bettes question.

Do you still love me Tina?

Shane looked around at the empty hospital room and she felt a sense of calm wash over her. She was never a very religious person but she did believe in karma and divine intervention. Someone or something had kept her on this earth for a reason and Shane was baffled as to why. Looking back on her past she knew that she hadnt been the most upstanding citizen, but she had always operated by a few simple rules. Number one, never intentionally hurt anyoneif you do they will always get their revenge. Number two, love is tougher than hate, but its so much more worth it in the end. And finally number three, trust yourself first and everything will be okay. Somehow these three rules had managed to get Shane through her life day by day and she thanked whoever was out there listening that she was being given a second chance.

She couldnt figure out why she had been visited by her father or Zoe, but she had a feeling that it had something to do with love. Both of those people were the only ones she had ever loved and they had been taken from her prematurely which was her proof that loving someone only resulted in heartache thus being the reason she didnt do relationships. But with her second shot at making things right Shane decided to revisit that theory and see if it was worth changing.

A doctor entered the room at that moment and Shane tried to focus her eyes on him as he approached and she could see that he was a doctor she had never seen before. He smiled warmly at her and told her that he would be doing a few tests to see if everything was okay. Shane didnt really know what to do or say so she just laid there waiting for him to begin. After a few minutes of questions and verbal tests to see if she was coherent he made a few notes in her chart and said he would be back later to run a PET scan and see if everything was working okay. Shane just nodded and watched him leave as quickly as he came. So much for good medicine she thought as she let her mind wander back to trying to figure out why she was still on this planet.

Maybe it was a mistakemaybe I wasnt supposed to make it thought Shane as she felt a surge of pain rack her body. Now that she was awake they had been heavily sedating her so that the pain wouldnt be too much for her, but sometimes she still felt surges of unbearable pain. After the shock left her body Shane let her mind wander again. Maybe thats what Zoe was trying to tell meit was my time Shane blinked as she tried to get this thought out of her head. She always knew that one day her time would be up and she would be forced to leave this planet, but she never thought it would be so soon. She was only twenty eight and she still had her whole life ahead of her so it couldnt be her time right?

Shane let out a big sigh and felt a sudden fatigue wrack her body. She wanted to sleep and so she shut her eyes in hopes that she could get some rest and figure out more things in the morning. As she turned her head to get more comfortable she slowly closed her eyes and tried to think of all the happy times she shared with the people she loved. Soon she was lost in her dreams and once again she saw Zoe standing near her waiving at her. Shane peered closely at her and saw that this time Zoe wasnt waiving goodbye but instead she was waiving hello. Shane tried to move, but her arm felt like it weighed a ton and she couldnt lift it or her legs. She began to panic a little since she couldnt move and she could feel her body being restrained. In the distance she could hear faint voices but she couldnt make out what they were saying so she turned back to Zoe who had magically disappeared. Shane looked confused and was about to open her mouth when she felt a jolt go through her again and suddenly the voices were loud and clear.
