The Canvas of Our Life…Ch 8

“OH, I’m so sorry Bette, of course you can come in. Please do. Can I get you something to drink?”

“I’d love a glass of wine if you have any. I’ve had quite a day today. A little something to take the edge off would be great.”

Bette immediately began to scan Tina’s apartment for pictures. She wanted to know more about her and had purposely planned on spending at least a few minutes in her apartment before they had to leave.

“Sure Bette, I have some Australian wine if you’re interested.”

“Anything, Yellow Tail would be great.”

Bette noticed a small corner shelf with a few framed photos. She stepped closer and leaned in noticing that the center photo was an older picture of a man with curly blonde hair, rosy cheeks and a familiar smile. He was sitting on a motorcycle with a little girl who looked very much like Tina.

“That’s me and my father on my 7th birthday. It’s my favorite picture of us. He came to pick me up on his new bike and took me out for ice creamagainst my mothers wishes of course.”

Bette leaned closer to the picture squinting. “Is that a?”

“Naked womangood eye! Yes it is. He had it airbrushed on the gas tank right after he bought it. My mother nearly had a coronary when she saw it. She used to make him cover it up when he would come and visit me. He used to protest and say that it was art. When I got older I used to act like I was so offended by it for my mother’s sake. I still do for some reason.”

“Your Dad seems really special to you. What does he do?”

“Well he works in construction, but his passion is music. He loves to sing and play the guitar. He has a beautiful voice and he shares it with anyone who’ll listen. I for one will listen whenever I have the opportunity. I plan on going to see him next week. He hasn’t been feeling well.”

“Oh, I’m sorry to hear that. Is he going to be ok?”

“Definitely! He is just having some back problems. Nothing he can’t get through. I’ve never known anything to get him down for too long! Oh and Bette.”
